The Blackfoot was my first REAL hobby grade RC as well. GREAT MEMORIES made with that kit. Thanks you for the trip down memory lane!

When my cousin gave me my Blackfoot in 1991 it was tge best present ever. He bought it new in 86, so it was extremely well used. He not only gave me the truck, but an entire tote of wheels, tires, parts, and even a tackle box of tools and hardware. That’s why I’m building my current Blackfoot in the retro style because I’m reminiscing my 6th grade year of my childhood

I completely understand and it is amazing how holding a pile of plastic and screws can bring back so many memories!! If I ever find a Super Blackfoot in great shape I can afford I am getting it and running it old school as well since that was my first real truck. One of these days!!

That was a cool buggy! It and the Academy Roadrunner were basically the same buggy. It was a lot like the Tamiya hornet but it had a hard body on it I believe. They were a goo looking one I know that!

When I saw the ads for the super blackfoot I had to have it! I begged and begged until m mom finally caved in! Since then I have had periods of just having one or two and sometimes none around but over the years it has grown a little. I think I had maybe 15 or so when I started the channel. Now I am not even sure! LOL!

Hahahahaha that's the place. There was also a tiny bit of Maru Pet Store over beside Roses for a bit. That's the one place I remember actually seeing parts and kits on display.

LoL, yeah! Technically mine was a Super Blackfoot but still basically the same. It had the more modern drive line and the different graphics but still drove the same. I am still looking for a good deal on one but have not found "the one" yet to buy! I do love my re-re Blackfoot and I am super fond of the style of the truck.it will always be my favorite just because it was the first real RC I ever had!

@@AddamsPlayground There is just something about this truck Addam, I had forgotten just how much fun a 2wd car could be since we have been spoilt with all the new fangled technology. ) One thing I am appreciative of is the extended run times from Lipo vs my beat up old 1400mah NiCads

This truck started my addiction too. I got it as a Christmas present in the late 80's. Building it was so satisfying and running it in the snow was a blast! I too sold mine, regrettably. It's on my list to purchase. Thanks for the awesome videos!

It is a fun truck and you will have a great time with it. One good upgrade if you are going to drive it a lot is the Monster Beetle tires as they are a bit softer and will keep it from bouncing around so much. Have fun with it!!

First off, you are a clone of my older brother. Its actually spooky. But he never cared for RC. Anyhow, I shared your same path. I had several Run and Done RCs. Power commands Fat Wheels Jeep with mouth inflated bouncy tires was the first steerable car. And I was hooked and drove it to death. After countless trys I got a 4x4 yellow Ford monster truck from Radio Shack with 2 speeds. I put that little beast through hell! Long walks through the woods. Garden dirt and mud. High gearing it in the street. It finally died when I put 2 extra C cells in the bed and made it haul! Toast! So I looked around for the next thrill. I just graduated in 85 and had some first job money. For several years a friend had been driving a Grasshopper and The Frog. I admired them but I thought they were to technical and spendy. Fast forward to 86 and a trip to K-Bee hobbies. Up behind the register I saw the Blackfoot with an included stick radio and battery. Every fiber in my being said DO IT!! And so I did. It was Friday and I started building it. By early morning Saturday cartoons I put the stickers on and put in the fresh batterys. I didn't know what to expect. But I thought it would be better than my previous Radio Shack Ford pickup. Then with a flick of my thumb it stood up in a wheelie and threw dirt across the yard! I got lost in joy smiling ear to ear and I was into my first run of a life long hobby! A friend was over that night and wired on Mountain Dew and Marlboros we both marveled at the performance. But as the battery was dieing the tires started slipping on the rims from the dewie grass. The next day he shows up with a Monster Beetle box! And it was on. What great times... Eventually my Blackfoot got modified far from stock and became Frankenblackfoot. Then I got the Bruiser. Wow! A few years ago I got the reissue of The BRAT & The Frog. I may still get A Blackfoot and keep it looking stock. I liked the 3 step speed controllers but the best improvement I think is the dog bone driveshaft are infinitely better than those hex & cup shafts. I'm useing all Waterproof Traxxas radio gear now which ROCKS! But I had a Futaba 1-11B ESC that made the old Blackfoot slower. And it got Smokeing hot which I didn't like. Then a little splash in a puddle killed it. With Tamiyas rubber balloons the receiver and 3 step worked good. So yea... I'm 56 now and no RC end in sight. I love my shelf queens and they don't get run as much. But they can get me out now and then. Not much will do that anymore. Lol😂

Thanks for the wonderful story! I love stuff like this and I can really relate to that first hit of the throttle of a "real" RC really sticks with you! I also agree the old 3 step MSCs were bulletproof and just kept going and going! Much more reliable than the ESCs of the time and wayyy cheaper! So many great times back then and now I am able to check off some of those wish list items from way back when I had no money but big dreams! LOL! Thank you again for sharing the terrific story, reminds me of my teen years!!!

I do drive it occasionally. I have enough cars and trucks now I don't have to depend on one or two to drive all the time. I cycle through them, some more than others. To use your analogy, it is like my wife. We use to run around and do wild and crazy things wen we were younger and now are happy to cruise a nice quiet ride occasionally and remember those days of being wild and crazy. I don't love her any less now that we aren't out going a million miles an hour, I just enjoy spending time with her and enjoying her company in a more chill way now. I enjoy the building and collecting side now. Building a collection of a lot of the cars and trucks I could not get when I was young is fun and a new passion. They get run but for entertainment and not for the old days of "let's see if it can jump this or drive through that"... Been there, done that, had to wait weeks for parts to fix it... Times change, tastes change and we all go through phases. Mine now is collecting and sharing it on KZbin. Thanks for watching and I hope it helps explain why I drive some more and harder than others. Have a great weekend
