My first RC as a kid was a Turbo Hopper so now I have what I really wanted. It still has an 80's feel to it with the fixed rear axle but handles way better now. Nostalgic for me and I really enjoy it. Cheers 👍🏼

It was hard to tell how fast it was going until the very end, that thing was scooting!! It looked very smoot and the shocks and those hornet tires are really helping the ride!! Some epic shots in there of you slinging rocks at the camera! (hopefully an un-manned camera!!)

It does seem to fly on this track as it is mostly flat and once it gets traction it's gone. The gravel is very small so the spikes do well. Cheers

Be interesting to see your Grasshopper go around a course. Great thing about Tamiya is finding how to make it go better and overcome some of the design issues. I'm sure they build those elements in deliberately.

Hopped up, I see what you did there! Great video mate. Hey I have done your oil shock mod on my Hornet and it's good but I can't quite get the steering rods to be where I want them to be using any of the standard servo horns. It always seems to catch on something. I did study your video and I think I've done it the same but the rods touch the chassis a bit. Anyway long story short I've ordered a Hi Torque servo saver as one of the horns in that solves my issue I think. Are your steering rods free to move with all the range of steering and with the suspension compressed? Cheers mate 🙂
@DustyFingersRC
@DustyFingersRC 2 жыл бұрын
I had some binding first time round. I use a Kimbrough servo saver and depending on what rod ends you use can make a difference I guess. I ended up taking another shaving off the chassis where one rod end caught very slightly.
@PeteWylieRC
@PeteWylieRC 2 жыл бұрын
@@DustyFingersRC yeah the shocks have the short ends. Using the servo horn that has the step the rods are either too near the front or too near the back depending on which side I put the ball connectors. If I use the flat servo horn it's not long enough so the rods catch at the top. The servo horn on the hi torque one is flat and longer so should work. One problem I have is that I've shaved off so many bits of chassis whilst trying different things that I might have weakened it too much. The chassis is dirt cheap if it does break. Apart from that it's a great mod and gives a slightly wider stance at the front which is good. I will test drive it once I've sorted it properly. Thanks for your help mate 😁
@DustyFingersRC
@DustyFingersRC 2 жыл бұрын
@@PeteWylieRC when I went with the 3mm rod I used a Kimbrough servo saver. Great high torque servo savers and cheaper than Tamiya ones. I will get the part number once home.

Once I bought a 4x4 RC Buggy from China of eBay and drove it round on a Baseball Diamond, with similar gravel to the path in your video. The dust & sand killed the buggy on its first drive. They also lied about its speed, surprise surprise. Why does Japan produce such High Quality and China such shate?
