Why I love RC? I had recently gone thru a divorce and heard of a shop having an open house. I was severely depressed and needed to find something to do so I bought a Slash. Soon after I moved to California and unfortunately made a life changing choice to start smoking meth. I started watching builds online by a guy who called himself Harley. The addiction of meth grew rapidly along with depression and suicidal thoughts. I met Mike Pham at a Hobbytown and he sold me a Wraith which I still have. The only escape I had from the turmoil in my mind was to run that wraith at Folsom Lake. I got to run G6 Recons with Parker. Fully outfitting my rig with VP parts and watching Josh use them on his video builds in KC. I was not doing good and came back to Kansas. I even got to run an event against Josh at Goat Hill, which I won btw. I miraculously got meth out of my life and that period seems like a distant memory. The one constant I had was RC. It was the one thing that let me escape from the horrors of my mind and choices. I still have that wraith Mike sold me, I still watch Josh videos. I now have 5 VP rigs and a few Axial rigs that are more VP than Axial. So, Mike and Josh, thank you! You're part of the reason I'm still here and you both have no idea what that means to me. You're also the reason I'm always broke so thanks for that too. That's why I love RC, it saved my life.

RC has been something I've enjoyed at some degree since I was about 10. Stepped away in my 20's and came back as a way to conquer my addiction to an "illegal activity" and to remain sober. Been great as I really enjoy tinkering & fabricating in general, so RCs for the bill perfectly. I am also an instructor at a local vo-tech in the Machining program. I use my RCs to show students how to design & draw parts in CAD (mostly MasterCAM & Solidworks) and also how to create them in various machines, manual and CNC. It's great for the students to put their hands on something they created in the computer, then in the machine and see it work in reality. I also use my RCs during college tours to help show kids that you can use the machines and knowledge gained in our program to build really cool things. It allows me to enjoy more of the hobby than just building and running my trucks too.

There are so many reasons I love RC. RC is a great stress reliever for me after a long day at work, and a great outlet for my imagination and mechanical mind. Being a mechanically minded person, I’m always tearing things apart to see how they go together, so building RC kits and working on them is a great way for me to satisfy that.

I worked in bike & hobby store back in the 70s and the associated RC 10 was my first hobby grade model. Several of my friends had that same chassis and we set up tracks at different houses and race every week, then years later with the invention of Lipo batteries that came in to play, a few years back I got back in the hobby mostly in the crawling arena , I still have my RC 10 and RC 10 T truck version and a custom-made sprint car using parts from that model, Associated definitely got me into this hobby

It was awesome to meet you and Matt together again. That has to be the highlight of my trip and Sandra got to talk to Nicole. We did not get sick after the event like we did after Axialfest. A few days after Axialfest Sandra came down with Covid and a week later I had it. Not a bad weight loss program if one is trying to loose weight. As for the topic of the week, I got into RC at a very young age. Like in the 70’s. My first RC was a Mustang ll that my mom bought my brother and I for Christmas. I have no idea who the manufacturer was but we were both hooked. RC Rock Crawling probably saved my marriage. My wife and I were going through a rough patch and I had just bought a Wraith when there was an event held in Sparks Nevada. I asked her if she wanted to go out of town with me for the weekend just to get away. She agreed and it was that trip that got her hooked. I always raced dirt oval or short course and she tried the SC and hated it. I personally had no intention of ever crawling until the scale side of the RC world got me hooked. Needless to say we have grown closer than ever because of RC Rock Crawling.

I have a 1:1 trail rig that’s an 1987 Chevy s-10 4x4 blazer. Back half of body is off with a tube cage. Also has a solid ford 9inch in the rear and late 70s bronco Dana 44 up front. Sitting on 35s and custom leaf design in the rear and Panhard design upfront. Can’t always afford 1:1 at 28 years old so RC has helped my off-road itch a lot 🤘🏼. Love the channel 🔥

At the moment RC isn't all that fun but at the moment not much is fun at all, I wrote on IG a few months ago and told you about how I had a rough period where you and Matt where part of what let me think of other things and kept me going. Unfortunately that roughness is back and worse than it was so to have this show and the RC community in general to keep me afloat helps a lot. I haven't driven any rc's in a while because I can't get myself to fix what need to be done on my cars so they're drivable. So to be able to sit and laugh with you and Matt helps a lot to get me trough and I really do look forward to this show as well as the live stream, even though I have to watch is as a rerun...

I’ve always enjoyed the hobby in some form since the 80s,90s and 2000s. In 2007 in a country made mostly of sand I had a ax-10 artr mailed to me. I latched onto the crawling side and eventually scale side. After my time in the service they have become my zen. What keeps the mind at peace and focused on the present. I love the fab work and customization. Putting that personal touch to each build. Lately I’ve put a personal touch to some of my builds that remembers that service and sacrifices

Run away. I love RC because it gives me a chance to turn some wrenches. I can't drive full scale thanks to some pretty serious spine damage, and have a lot of surgeries coming up to try to fix it, so this is a good distraction.
