Hi John, those are some serious axels you are building. Once again I have learned a important lesson with the Tamiya builds, add grease around the outer edge of the gear box to make a good seal. I know I would have just put everything together and left it at that. Thanks for the lesson and again the Master teaching us all💯💯💯

Hi Al, thank you for watching and leaving me a lovely comment, you’re too kind. Adding the grease around the mating surfaces of the axles, gearboxes etc, is an economical way of preventing dust and such like, from entering the gearboxes, axles and then combining with the grease, to acting as a grinding paste and wearing your gears out. When you next do some maintenance on your amazing Arrma’s, give it a try on those too 😉😊😉Best wishes to you and the family 😊😉

The axles are done! Now there is something to mount the tires on 😀 Great work on this step. Looking good! Regarding the kit: I would have wished that Tamiya gets rid of those brass bearings and replace them with ball bearings. Imho that would be a better fit for the CR-01.

Hi Armin, thank you for watching and leaving me a nice comment. Oh yes, so true. However, I have fully ballraced everything,except the brass bushings on the external suspension mechanism, I didn’t see the benefit of those also being ball bearings, as the suspension mechanism, doesn’t move very fast and the brass bushings should be adequate. Best wishes 😎😊😉

Well done John! Step 7 done and repeat exactly the same for the front. The diff cases they supply you with are extremely burly for sure and look like there made to take some abuse. The feature I like is that locking diff. It seems simple enough to do , but makes wonder it this could be mechanically actuated with a servo and a non treaded pin? Like Traxxas and some others do, It would be cool if Tamiya added or offered such a feature for this beauty! Tamiya has a lot of people like yourself, Freddy, Addam and I’m sure many more, for helping people get on with their kits! They should at least send you righteous fellas a t- shirt or something!😂 Well done brother, will be watching the next step as well! God bless and have a great weekend!👊🏼

Hey Robby, as always, I just love reading your fantastic feedback and comments. This CR-01 is a wonderful RC, I really can’t understand why they aren’t more popular, I suppose the likes of Traxxas and Axial have kind of hijacked this market. But I must say, this Rock Socker is an awesome one and the ease of locking the diff, is a Tamiya genius thought! 💭😊😉😊 I like your thinking on a mechanically operated locking system for the diffs would be a neat idea, if only Tamiya had engineered this into the kit 🤔🧐. Now a cool Tamiya ‘T’ shirt or something for us loyal RC’ers, that would a nice touch, but knowing Tamiya, profits first 🤦🏻‍♂️. Anyway great to read your comment, take care, wishing you all the best 😉😊😉

Nicely done John. Everything went together nicely. Very detailed as usual. I happen to be taking apart the Scx6 Front and rear Diffs for clean down and Regreasing. As careful as we are as trying to keep these gears free of issues. Something I do on ALL my rigs. Just general maintenance. Food for thought. :) Then again I AM kinda anal that way. lol John. I enjoyed listening along. Have a great weekend. :)

Those are some seriously beefy axles! Now...that is the coolest way of being able to lock or unlock the differential without having to take the entire housing apart like in most kits. So here's the question...if you lock the diff and screw that pin all the way through, do you then still use the grub screw to seal the hole? And if you do use the grub screw, what do you screw it on to? For example, if it's for the motor you'd screw it down to the motor pin as tight as possible...but I don't think this is going to tighten down to anything other wise it would get in the way of the drive line. So what is it being screwed into?
@JF-RC
@JF-RC 6 ай бұрын
Hey Freddy, thank you for watching and leaving me a fantastic question. You remove the BA10 grub screw, then screw in the little screw pin, then screw back in the BA10 grub screw, after locking the diff(s). Best wishes 😎😊😉
