Awesome Steve and somehow creepy how fast the pinion wears out and you just used the siver can. But this wazer-based thread lock is great too.
@ShenRC Жыл бұрын
Yes they wear away with very little runs, you need to use steel pinions in the tamiya cars. Thanks

Hi Steve, nice little upgrades right there! The clear coat is a great idea, I'll try that thanks! Also good riddance to the stock pinion that's made of cheese! Now that sucker will last! Thanks for letting us know it's a 32 pitch, I mistakenly thought it was an 0.8 or 0.6 mod! Cheers dude!

Thanks Mark Your welcome glad I could help ya!
@NordicRC Жыл бұрын
I bet it’s actually an 0,6 or 0,8 mod.
@NordicRC Жыл бұрын
Yeah. Just checked. Looks like a standard 0,8 mod pinion. But I think a lot of good folks (Americans) use the 32p instead. Almost the same size.
@ShenRC Жыл бұрын
@@NordicRC Hi the 3p are designed for tamiya cars I always use them they run perfect.

Hey Steve, you really freak me out with the amount of energy you put into tightening up the screws and nuts, I keep wanting for them to strip off. lol 😊 Niiiiiiiiiice video
@ShenRC Жыл бұрын
😁 Yea I learned from many years past it's better to make them tight than have them all come lose when driving just causes more damage. Thanks for watching.
@NordicRC Жыл бұрын
Good job, Steve. So when running, do your gears ‘click’ a little? Especially audible when running slow?
@ShenRC Жыл бұрын
Hi I built 3 of this chassis they always have some noise to them but this one was the worst one yet but they wear in after use. Thanks for watching.
@NordicRC Жыл бұрын
@@ShenRC Yeah, I thought so. I should probably just leave it be and see if it get's better over time. Thanks, Steve
@ShenRC Жыл бұрын
@@NordicRC You can check the little side bevel gear that is on the side of the gearbox when you unscrew the side caps to get at it, chick for some little extra plastic around the outside edge and the back of it from when they mold them sometimes that can be what makes them louder than normal.

Awesome rig.!! Really great tips too. Love the color. Should be a little faster with the 16. I have a 17 in my Holiday Buggy. It will take a 19. I may do the swap someday. Tonight I am going to vinyl the body. I'm surprised that the stock pinions wear out like that. Just a couple runs.?? Crazy. Can't wait to see you run this BEAUTY.!! 😊🏆🏎

@@ShenRC I'm super surprised that the stock pinion wears out so fast. Just a couple runs and it's already coming apart. I had no idea. I will have to keep an eye out on my Lunchy.

I am about to overhaul mine in fairness, I might change the pinion while I am at it, I have a BZ in mine currently and it flys, but after an abrupt stop with a brick wall, it needs some TLC. Also the purple is kinda cool 👍

Any issues with that Robinson racing steel gear long term? These are 0.6 which tamiya is 0.8. I know it’s close enough but wanted to run them on a couple of my buggies. Thanks!
@ShenRC Жыл бұрын
Hi I been using the RR pinions that they make that say work with the tamiya cars in both pitches they sell for the older cars or the ones with the fine pitch for ever and never had any problems at all they work perfect. Hop this helps. Thanks

@@ShenRC okay rad!, thanks for that info. Did you notice a difference going from a 15 to a 16t pinion? On the fence between a 16 & 17. Worries the 17 will make the motor run to hot..

I would not go higher than 16 it runs on the hot side.@@NoNoRc

The RC's are really tough and take a beating so you don't have t work on them all the time after every run. Thanks for watching.

I do not know why Tamiya started using those pinions. Early ones had the bronze metal like still fitted to the Lunchbox and they last.
