Looking good buddy. But have to say to save all that masking would it have been easier to paint the white first? Agree the worst part of any build is applying the window masks and the best part is removing the overspray film!

I'll have to admit that I've never been a Porsche fan but after seeing your car, well, I'm beginning to change my mind. Once you have the car fully stickered, I think it's gonna look awesome!! I want one. lol One thing I always do after the colors are applied and fully cured and before removing the window and outer shell mask is to apply a few light coats of silver followed by a few light coats of flat black. It just makes the paint fully opaque and the colors pop. For the silver and black, I just use cheap hardware store enamel-based paint - it sticks perfectly well to the polycarbonate paint and it saves me a few bucks. This technique works especially well with white - it doesn't alter the final color and it prevents sunlight from bleeding through. Been doing this for years and so far no problems. Anyway, thank you for another great Tamiya video. Looking forward to the next chapter. Cheers.

Nice, going to look great. Going thru some extra steps I see. Big project = big effort. How much is the best possible outcome worth to you? I dont mean $$$. In this case I mean effort, planning, and patience. Thanks for sharing your process.
@TAMIYALegends4 жыл бұрын
SneerfulDust I think it’s all about having the finished car as you planned it. This one has been an interesting and costly KZbin project. But hopefully you’ll see in the next video, the thing is stunning to look at 😊😊😊 As for my paint lines they were actually spot on, I did think as you did that I might have some issues, but luckily i didn’t 🤩👊🏻

Love the detail on the chassis, i spend a lot of time on the chassis when restoring a car, everything has to be perfect, i shelf a couple of my cars with clear bodies just for viewing, just finished two bodies (painting), turned out ok, but i have to admit i'm not as good painting as i used to be, getting old i guess, that's what decals are for, keep up the awesome work Glenn!!!!

Frog tape is the stuff I use because other cheap masking tape ends up with the adhesive dissolving and the paint creeping under the edges,I'd fix washers on the body mount posts and cut off the excess then drill and tap the top of the post to take a screw with a thin profile head,fixing a plate between the posts should stop the movement:)
@TAMIYALegends4 жыл бұрын
James Cunliffe Thanks James that sounds like a perfect cure for the body posts 🤩👊🏻
@jamescunliffe98724 жыл бұрын
@@TAMIYALegends one idea is a piece of threaded rod set into the post after drilling a hole with fine bit then epoxying so captive and a small nut can be used or whatever can be threaded? Lol:)

Really enjoying seeing the car come together. Looks AMAZING! I must ask though (as I’ve never seen an original), what is the original parts vs hop up parts ratio? Looks like you hardly need to even buy the Tamiya kit. Maybe you could do a video of parts used vs unused?

I like it but I wish you would have used the magnetic body mount the body post kill the look ! I'm building a tt02 but not for bling for racing! I just ordered a traxxas summit roller and a bunch of parts I thought I'd save money but no I went nuts and could have got two for the money i have in it but its going to be an 8s monster basher!

That car look a treat , and those wheels like oh yeeaahhh they are sweet, can tell this is going to be a winner for me i'd keep her up on the shelf too scared to even get it dusty lethalown scratched,lol but yes coming together ver very nicely cant wait to see it when its all done , what a beast i would like to go all out on a tt01 myself i may pick out a great looking body with light buckets and do the same with all the carbon and the anodized aluminum makes the car look fantastic it really does , so you think the yeah racing aluminum kits are ok ? thanks again for another great video , cheers bud.

Fantastic, really comming together now, would it be possible at the end of the build series (last video) to total up cost of the complete build and very importantly the number of hours work put in, then add on your hourly rate of example (£20 (per hour labour) x 100 (build hours) = X) + (Equipement Cost = Y) = Total cost Z I would find this information interesting.
@TAMIYALegends4 жыл бұрын

just looking at the chassis and I am thinking is it worth buying a TT-01 kit or just buying the parts to make onelike that? looks amazing by the way and its somthing I would like to build myself.. I am not a huge fan of that shape Porsche after working on them as a job but that one is going to look cool

adrian harrison The chassis built was a great project that I really enjoyed, but it’s a very expensive way of doing it 😬. But as far as I know it’s possibly a one off considering the different parts I used 🤷🏼♂️ So that’s kinda cool 😎
