I have to admit something, i enjoy watching british, scottish and Irish tv shows like Doc martin and movies especially late at night as I find the voices very relaxing and they help me fall asleep. 🥶Chilly Out!! Awesome vid Glenn! Doing Yorkshire proud in shorts mate! Looks like it goes really well! 🥳 Although the glass filled plastic diffs may not handle stupid amounts of power like the metal diffs from the DF-02, they reduce rotating mass considerably, as well as lightening the car. The fact you have those aluminium driveshafts as well probably helps too, gaining you acceleration. I've weighed stock plastic against the metal dogbones, drive cups and axles from my TT-02B MS and the steel is considerably lighter than stock plastic. Awhile back I bought an DF-02 Aero Avante to pinch the metal diffs for an overpowered basher TT-02B, so then I have also retrofitted the plastic diffs into the DF-02 using some shims, and it absolutely transformed the car, made it much more lively, running a tble-02s, 13.5 ebay 'blue bottle' sensored motor, and Vapex 1600mah 9.6V 2/3A NiMH Stick pack battery intended for a paintball gun! With the lighter small capacity and higher voltage you can't really tell it isn't running LiPo! Goes mint, and stops the saggy front end the DF-02 seems to perpetually fight with stock shocks. Runtime is not massive, about 15min depending on how much you launch hard off the mark for fun. Great Vid mate you are killing it! 😎 👍👍👍

So you like the plastic gears from TT in the DF? Do the shims go between diff and out drives?

@@johnnycoolness They work really well, you have to shim the plastic TT-02B diff pinions out from the centre drive shaft bearings closest to the diffs, the metal diff pinion has a longer collar and you have to simulate this with shims. It works really well to improve the driving characteristics of the DF-02, especially running a low-mid tier power setup like a tble-02s and sensored 13.5 or similar, I don't recommend it for high end sensorless setups, the tamiya pot metal DF-02 diffs are more resilient to silly amounts of torque, but yeah I prefer the driveability of my DF-02 with its plastic diffs. It just feels more composed on its suspension and definitely quicker to accelerate. For laps at a track definitely feels quicker. I Haven't done any timing for proof, but I'm sure based on the driving experience.

I live in cold climates, too, and I found that wearing shorts isn't a big issue, but I once wear bad footwear and forget my gloves, I'm in a place that hurts the rest of the day... Glenn, imagine the amount of enjoyment you would have had with that car, if you had appropriate clothing and some light gloves on ! You just ruined the 1st date with that beauty ;_) You might try kitchen gloves that produce sweaty hands in the summer. I wonder if they would prevent the body heat to dissipate for a few minutes in the cold ?? I will try it myself next time when it gets around zero celsius.

Tbh it ran great but it would be totally different in decent conditions. I honestly think on a dry hot day that would of been way quicker with proper grip. So really I can’t make any comparisons at the moment. It’s next outing will be at an indoor track 😇🚗💨💨💨

What are your opinions on the Tamiya super stock motors and gearing. the RZ is available on amazon for 28 US and the bearings are really inexpensive. Thanks!
