Morning Mark. Great stuff. I like the way that Alf knows more about it than you and it was before he was born! Those tyres look grippy! The wheel adapters and some other bits on the red tree are from the FAV and not used on this. You have seen metal formed inside plastic on a Tamiya kit before, eg. drive shafts on a DT-02! I believe with this kit that the red plastic doesn't take paint well so might be an issue if you want the drivers helmet painted then I think the enamel tins work best but obviously test on a spare bit of tree. I think acrylic paint falls off that plastic. Those shocks are gorgeous as you say. I wonder why more kits don't have the rubber boots on the drive shafts. They work well as I remember. I don't know why they did that frp battery holder because the FAV one protected the battery more and gave a flatter underside to the car. With the lexan for the driver it would be good to to use flat clear to take the shine off. I'm sure I'm saying a load of things that you already know. It's just that I looked into this one quite a lot as I'm sure you did. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I'm not going to order it just yet although I may regret that when it goes out of stock. I really wish I'd bought the FAV re-release when that was out so I could have a runner. Anyway hope you are enjoying your day. Hey I've had a few new subs and communication since that nerdy Tamiya chat vid so that's good. Laters mate 😀

Hiya Pete - thanks for the really helpful info mate! I knew some, but certainly not all of it! Did you know the tyres look really grippy on this? :P Oh yeah, dog bones!!! Not seen threaded bits on plastic chassis parts is what I should have said! I'll have a little spray on a bit ot the plastic red tree and see how it goes. Not looking forward to painting the jelly-mould driver figure though! I was thinking about painting the inside and then a flat finish on the outside. I only have flesh colour in acrylic, I hope his hands and face don't fall off! Yeah, the rubber gaitors are a good idea, worked well on my Monster Beetle until they perished with age. Glad I ordered it mate, I checked and it's not listed on Time Tunnel any more :-/ Modelsport have them but for £30 more.Keep looking, Derek just got a cool FAV didn't he? I really like the look of that one mate. Just been shopping, had to queue for AGES in a 2m separated line just to get in! Back to work on the build soon, happy days! Thanks again and take it easy my friend. All the best from Mark... :)

@@MarkBryanRC You should have said about the grippy tyres! The Wild Willy and the Brat had the threaded metal bits in the roll bars but I don't think you've had either of those. I think the main problem with that funny plastic is if you try to paint the roll bars because obviously they get knocked about. The first time I built the FAV I used acrylic paint on them and it fell off so easily. I then used enamel paint and it stuck really well. I will hang fire on this kit then. You can't always have everything. I did nearly order a Dump Truck as the GF-01 is such fun and that one is only £135 which ain't bad. Was put off by the fact that Time Tunnel has run out of ball bearings for the moment. I did order the Impreza body for the TL-01. I'm just doing a basic basher Datsun 240Z body for my TT-02. I've got another one after that which I will try to do the proper black and red box art with. Very tricky as I remember! The shops sound like a pain in the arse. I haven't been for a few days and I think they are getting more serious about distancing. Anyway I'm sure you are enjoying your Wild One build. Laters mate :-)

@@MarkBryanRC Hey Mark can I pick your brains? I have been advised that a cap pack would improve the juddering of that cheap ESC I have but I'm struggling to find good info on what size caps to use and how many. I don't think it's an exact science but I've really got no idea. I could just bin that ESC and use a decent one! How's the build going anyway?
@MarkBryanRC4 жыл бұрын
Hi mate - no I don't have a Brat or willy! Always something new to discover. I think I''ll take your advice after looking at that red nylon plastic, looks dodgy, so no painting. Yeah, Neil seems to be running out of stuff fast, must be selling a lot on-line! Cool you got the Scoobie, it's a lovely shell. Just gonna answer your next comment!
@MarkBryanRC4 жыл бұрын
Hello again! Hmmm - not sure about this one - capacitors store a small amount of charge and then release it milliseconds later. The bugger the cap, the bigger the charge and a longer delay before release. They are usually used to smooth rectified (converted A/C to D/C voltage) that is at a fixed frequency. The only place I could think you could fit them is between the output phase wires, between two of the 3 phases. As the ESC basically "pulses" electricity to each phase in turn, at increasing speed (i.e. a changing frequency) as the motor revs faster, I can't see how a capacitor could cope to even out the pulses. If you get it wrong you could have an exploding capacitor, not good! Build is going slowly but well, I started on the driver figure, cut the protective coat on the outside around the driver to make a mask, and painted him on the outside, looking good! Just doing the first part of the chassis and those lovely shocks! How's the basher body coming on? All the best, catch ya soon. :)

Hi Carlton - oh man, the driver painting is the only part I'm not looking forward to! Any tips? Same here, this has long been on my list, I'm sure we are both going to enjoy them very much! :)
@carltonr34174 жыл бұрын
Painting the driver isn’t too bad if you paint him from the outside. I followed a guide on blackholesun.fr Look for the wild One in the “Buggy/truck” section and there’s quite a good bit of information and pictures about paint etc. I did paint my driver white from the underneath first, then painted everything black from underneath and then painted the driver white again, but from the outside this time and hand painted the details with a very fine paint brush. I’m painting the drivers head white and the spotlights black and white to match the original Wild Ones colours. If you choose to paint them, then follow the guide mentioned above about what paint to use to get it to stick as not much does stick very well to the red plastic Tamiya used. I haven’t finished painting the head and spotlights yet, but I’m hoping the Tamiya x27 paint as mentioned in the guide, used as a primer will help the other colours stick better. And yeah, I’m sure we will very enjoy them too! Just having my very own one finally is a thrill in itself :)
@MarkBryanRC4 жыл бұрын
@@carltonr3417 A massive thanks to you for this info, Carlton! I have just spent a long time studying the details on blackholesun. Luckily, I had a similar idea, and cut the protective coating on the outside of the lexan around the driver, and created a mask by removing the coating from the driver only. I have then used a VERY old pot of PS white brush paint to paint him on the outside. It looks OK. I will follow the other recommendations, but may leave the head in red! Hope the x27 works well for you, sounds like a cunning plan! All the best and thank you so much again! :)

Sitting here watching the Wild One unboxing and I keep comparing you guys to The Big Hairy Bikers cooking show. I just love atmosphere generated. Well done lads 👍🤓🇦🇺 Interesting enough, the Fast Attack vehicle was released prior to the Wild One, and are based on the same format. But in between there releases there were 3 other kits released. One was the Hot Shot! The wild One had a design with a lot of the hard plastics being swapped for Lexan. Enjoy!

I'm at LEAST taking care of another lost dream - I'm getting another Mini - in BITS, because the complete Kits, where available, are OVER $400.00 USD!! So basically, I can get a complete M05, either Mazda or NSU... and a Mini Cooper Body separately. The M05 Kits are only about $120 USD! So I'm also getting the Yeah Racing Aluminum Suspension and Steering Kit that also comes with CVDs, for another $50, and I should have something really nice!! 😉 AND me TT-02 will FINALLY have a Body after 4 years as well. And I'll STILL have enough left for ANOTHER Kit!! (a cheap one) The new M05 RA with Renault Rally Body apparently isn't selling here, and they've been discounted to only $95!!! 😳😎😊 So it looks like I'll have TWO new front Drivers and a new 240Z Body - for $100 LESS than the cheapest Wild One! Still GUTTED, but I will eventually get one. Can't WAIT to see your build!! 👍👍 Again, chuffed for you. Carmine ✈🚂🚙

The unavailability of those two is staggering... 😳💔😞 But hey - I haven't been able to afford a new Rig in over 6 years. The fact that I'm about to have TWO, plus a new Body... I consider myself fortunate indeed. The 240Z has always had a place in my heart... It was my first Car! Being able to recreate it is special. Spaz Stix Paints has a colour called "Root Beer", which nearly identical to what mine was. It will be going on my custom built "TT-02 RA" Chassis!!! May even fit a BRUSHLESS Motor to her! 👍👍 The two M05s will be a lot of fun, and I get to recreate my Mini Cooper! Maybe we could do a Mini collab!!?? 😊 The M05 RA should be interesting... A FWD with 6mm more Suspension travel and Rally Blocks! 😎 MAY just do up that Renault Body as Box Art. The way I'm looking at it, I'm STILL lucky!!
@MarkBryanRC4 жыл бұрын
That sounds very positive, Carmine - yeah we gotta lok on the bright side. 2 new cars and a finished TT02 is a good score! It must be great to recreate a car you actually owned in 1/10 scale, I'd match the colour too! I was looking at the M05 RA as well, but they went out of stock very quickly over here, I think many RC guys are buying up stock in the lockdown, it's almost as bad as toilet roll! :P
@CarminesRCTipsandTricks4 жыл бұрын
Lolol Toilet Roll actually costs MORE than the M05 here!!! 😖😞 I'm trying to keep a good attitude... I guess I've gotten used to my fortunes changing so quickly over the past 5 years...... It's prepared me better! The OLD TT-02 will LOOK like my first Car... But I could only DREAM that it had AWD!! 😜 Right, close enough for Nuclear Bombs, as my Dad used to say! 😉 I'm really curious about how the M05 RA is going to do... It's just a M05 with more ground clearance and Suspension travel. ONE of them is going to be a Speed Demon! 13.5 turn Brushless motor and 3S!!! 😳😳😳😎 Haven't decided yet which one. *I'm GETTING a Wild One!!!* Maybe not now.... But it's coming. 😉 Cheers 🍻🍻

Great kit. How long, on average, does it take you to build a kit with all the nice detailing you do? 👍🏾
@MarkBryanRC4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Paul. Well, it depends on the kit, and it takes a lot longer when I'm filming as I do on most builds! But I'd say a chassis usually takes a day, and the bodywork a little longer - the last rally body, with the paint, stickers and DIY LED install took the best part of 3 days! This Wild One is very simple though, I reckon half a day for the chassis and the same for the little body shell. All the best! :)

One underrated, cheap chassis, really nice to service and trim, low/backwards center of gravity for interesting handling ... I don't get, why they didn't develop it further, somewhat back to a modern, raceable variant of the original, but expensive + heavy showcase Super Champ/Sand Scorcher.
@MarkBryanRC4 жыл бұрын
Hi Martin! Great comment - I totally agree. This chassis is very basic, but well thought-out and seems to work very well, the trailing arm suspension is a tried and tested design, as you say, a few more tweaks and this chassis could be even better. Much more affordable than the Champ/Scorcher metal design, and the rear suspension at least keeps the wheels parallel through the stroke. Keep safe and very best regards from Mark... :)
