ISN T SHE LOVELY ...? Not in the Stevie Wonder sense of the word...but in LaVerne Baker's ...100% musical & 75 % physical reincarnative resemblance - esp w that highly-libidnal growl in her voice here & there, a bit like female Bobby Bland. Wish I could hear You try the incredible LaVerne Baker bittersweet masterpiece ballad BORN TO LOSE from her last album on Brunswick (a Toddlin Town lbl, a Decca subsid). Would give me sh7vers ...( and that 7 was unintentional,,thus HOLY ...). Also another suggestion : the very demanding ballad THIS BITTER EARTH - first by one Ruth Jones, then the unsurpassable BIG MAYBELLE (on Rojac lp, w a 2 long a tle to be repeated here, 1966). If you can master those to near-perfection, that ll be your bluesical PhD...I'm sure. Oh, Tammi - YOU ARE THE SUNSHINE OF MY LIFE (to get back to Stevie) - a truly SWEET INSPIRATION ! PS. Did you receive the contact info briefed thru your ws concerning the festivals in our country? I asked 4 confirmation, haven t received. Plz clarify.
