this was such an informative interview. I got really excited when the annealer was being discussed. I just sourced and ordered some bead-making tools and supplies and have watched a lot of youtube videos over a couple of years. drank the kool-aid lol. I love glass, color, fire, hee hee. I am a welder by trade but a cutter so I see on my pay stubs lol. I am now 52 yrs and love to have a torch in my hand. I cut steel for a living and love to see the molten steel flow. I feel like melting or molten glass is so much like molten steel. So excited to set up and start melting glass! So happy for the step I made toward this art. ps, I live paycheque to paycheque mostly. you know how it is, sometimes good jobs, sometimes no jobs har har. looking forward to sharing this art with my grandkids and maybe even enticing my jewelry-making daughter to use some of my beads. Happy Momma/Grandmomma. Also about the annealer, I wonder if I could use my wood burning stove

Amazing. I love lampwork beads. Watching this would help anyone understand why boro lampwork beads are costly. So much patience, skill, and fancy equipment inbolved. That torch looks so dangerous. I admire glass artists a lot because I could never work in that medium. But I get to create using their little works of art! Thanks for making this video.

Any ideas on how I might use my wood-burning stove as an annealer? I am new at this but do want my beads to be strong and lasting, ...hopefully, lol

Exactly how far away from the torch should your propane and oxygen be for safest keeping in a smaller area?

For working borough glass, especially color, you want didymium plus at least a shade 3 lens to protect your eyes. Didymium lenses on their own aren’t sufficient protection.

CORRECTION!! Mandela are in fact STAINLESS STEEL!! they are NOT just a stick of ‘welding steel’ !!! That is pure insanity PlEASE do not attempt to use such materials for lampworking! As a lampworker myself this is coming from experience We use stainless steel specifically because it can withstand/hold-up the extreme heat used when working w/ & melting glass over extended periods of time & repeated use. The last thing you wa T is a mandrel that will melt! ESSPETIALLY with glass w/a COE of 33 like borough has.
