Tampere looks a lot like Seattle in the US. I really enjoyed visiting Tampere before covid hit. That tower always reminded me of Tampre, kinda like Space Needle did for Seattle.

Alun Johdanto punalippuineen mielenkiintoinen.

The soviet intro is kinda weird, as it's a finnish city...

It's a channel about Eastern Nostalgia. Also Finland was pretty influenced by the Soviets until the 90s.

@@danielk3919 Well, I was only seven years old when the Soviet Union fell, but I think Finland was pretty far from it's eastern neighbor other than geologically. Apart from some bilateral trade, Finland sat solidly on the west side of the iron curtain. Finland even had to fight wars against the soviets. They were seen as evil communists who tried to take over our country. And that's how some look at Russians even today. Of course Finland had to stay in good terms with the Soviet Union diplomatically, being situated right next to the giant. Might have looked different from somewhere else I guess, but here, living right next to the Soviets, the contrast between us and them was huge. That is why the soviet imagery with red flags flying just seems quite out of place. I just don't see historical images of Finland as "eastern nostalgia". I like the video though. Nice to see these images of my home town. :)

@@danielk3919 Finland was neutral during the Cold War. It was a Western country but had tight relations to the Soviets.
