2:46 You are not focused on the subject in botth shots (but on the Tamron more)! What does 120FPS have to do with Lens sharpness? 3:03 Wrong Bob! It's EASIER to maintain Focus with Wider Lenses 3:33 Bokeh Test Gold: LOOOOOOL man you know nothing 9:29 WTF both lenses dont stabilize at all! the wider the focal length, the lesser you notice camera shake!

Useful video. I bought Samyang 24mm f1.8 last week. I have a Moza mini-p gimbal. I tried setting up my A7III with the Samyang, but the eye-cup gets caught at the roll bar. The Samyang 24mm f2.8 would fit properly. My concern is the low light. How does Samyang 24mm f2.8 perform in night street video? Does the AF hunt? Thank you.

Appreciate the time stamps! Was trying to gauge which would be better for audio and the Tamron-even though its wider-is kind of a no-go b/c the AF noise is so loud. Thanks for taking the time to do this 🤙🏾🤙🏾

I interpret the bokeh photos in a different way. The image from the Tamron lens is "buttery" smooth where one object blurs pleasantly into another. For the Samyang, the bokeh is "noisy" - edges are discernable and objects are almost recognizable at f/2.8.

I agree. I didn't understand why he chose the Samyang in that category when the Tamron lens was better overall

What mic did u use while testing the autofocus noise? Does it make the same noise if used with a shotgun mic?

I'm using the TAKSTAR SGC-598 Shotgun Mic

Hi, and thanks for this video, I'm really interested in the Samyang 18mm but I live in front of the beach, I make a lot videos outdoors and the humidity where I live worries me a lot, how could I protect my camera from humidity in this case?

I'm in the same boat for choosing a lens for car videos on gimbal. I have Kit lens and 85mm 1.8 but sometimes we need a bit wider shot so was thinking to get 20mm but looking at this video looks like 24mm is better choice. Not sure if I'd go with 2.8 or 1.8 from viltrox. Thanks for the review, helps :)

Excellent review!!! I'm on the verge of buying one of these lenses and this reviews helps a lot! For my Sony a6300 I'm looking for an affordable autofocus lens in the range of 20mm to 24mm and I was really looking at the two models you've discussed. Thanks, man!!!! For me the highlight of this test is definitely the AF test: you've gone to extreme limits to test this and that's what it's all about.

@EpicUnbox4 жыл бұрын
Cause I was personally interested in buying the Tamron 20mm myself but the distortion was too much for me the next best thing was the the Samyang 24mm so I decided to review both and ended up with the Samyang at the end.

Sorry but this test is a waste of time. Why wouldn't you compare the 24mm Tamron? 4mm makes a huge difference at such wide angles. The Tamron 24mm is a great lens, better than the Samyang. I guess you wanted an outcome where the Samyang would be better? Try the Samyang 18mm against the Tamron 24mm and see what happens.
@EpicUnbox2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t want any outcome I was trying to stay as neutral as I can. At the time of the video I don’t think they had the Tamron 24mm. Only 2 wide options were Tamron 20mm and Samsung 24mm. Maybe a waste of time for you but not for the rest of us who this video helped :)
