An interview with Kevin Favier around getting to know Tana. I walk him through the newly release Tana Core. We go through some of the default setup, and I show him how I adapted Tana to help me stay on top of things at work.

Great video! Thank you for sharing this walkthrough. I had quite a few "aha! that's how that works" moments while watching. If you're planning to create another walkthrough, I'd be happy to volunteer as your student. As a leadership development coach who is new to Tana, I have some specific use cases related to my coaching business that I believe Tana would be perfect for. While I enjoy tinkering with new tools, I know that doing so can take up valuable time that should be invested elsewhere. So, if you need another student for a future interview or walkthrough, I'm ready and willing to participate.

I am in awe of the potential power of Tana but it's when even the Tana experts at 41:00 have so much trouble with the query builder that makes me want to give up.

Don't be too discouraged. The queries are the most tricky part of the app. More tricky than anything else around it. Also, it was double complex because of the way he was traversing internally - to another "branch" in the same object. What I would say is the most tricky part of queries. And then he is working inside the template - this also adds an abstraction layer. Many queries for daily use will be much simpler. And that is the way to get used to it. I will not be surprised if they make an AI wizard for query design in the future.

yeah, it's a mess. the idea is good, but the technical part of it will drive people away - not worth the effort.

@@GustavoMontanha don't forget it is still in beta though. They have focused on feature set first, and usability is gradually getting improved. I have used it a bit over a year and a lot has improved. Still, first priority is to make a complete foundation in terms of features and integrations. In terms of technical complexity, the queries are the only achilles heal IMO. But a lot of the simpler queries that are not combining elements in this way, are more point-and-click. The query in this video is probably the most complex variant of all.

Nice video! Tana core looks rally good. I have a question: how you set the AI to fix typos and auto-assign supertags on contenta you send ti your inbox through Tana capture? Thanks!

Great video, as always. What is up with the Supertags icon in the toolbar, just above AI Chat?

He likely has features available to him that the general public don't have as of yet. Personally, this is something I also don't have on my sidebar.
