This looks amazing. Nigella seeds?? I'm not sure they would be available in Melbourne, Australia. What is a good substitute for this spice?
@HastesKitchen7 жыл бұрын

synn61 I'm from Australia and you can purchase nigella seeds from any Arab or Indian grocer , they are also labelled black cumin seed

Great video, great recipe but it's pretty far from an actual Indian dish, it's a close replica though because we'd never use honey/sugar in a tandoori dish, not in India at least and of course neither would be use cayenne or paprika, we'd use a kashmiri red chilli powder which is similar but they do alter the taste to some extent, also garam masala powder would be an important ingredient to add to this. You'd also use some mustard oil in that marinade. But I'm just nit picking, perfect recipe for your audience though :) and also a good interpretation I would say, some very nice ideas. Cheers!

Sorry I meant far from an actual tandoori recipe not Indian, it's very Indian. :) In fact those mustard seeds will give it a very South Indian flavour.

Fish food mixed with yogurt? That is a no no in middle eastern culture as we believe it can cause skin diseases.
@HastesKitchen7 жыл бұрын
+Ms Y E A it's pretty standard to use a yogurt with a tandoori marinade and use it with Prawns.. Which skin diseases are you referring to?
@MsSimixx7 жыл бұрын
Tandoori is not middle eastern. It's very common in Asian culture, which this recipe is, to mix yoghurt with this array of spices.
@YasFlowers7 жыл бұрын
Sim Solace I didn’t say it is Middle Eastern, please refer to my initial comment as the issue is not the origin. Mixing spices with yogurt is also a common practice in Middle Eastern culture.
@YasFlowers7 жыл бұрын
+ Haste's Kitchen Yes, I agree that it is standard to use yogurt when marinating but not with sea food. With sea food you just mix the spices and slather it on the fish or prawn or crab.... The skin disease I am referring to is leucoderma. We have yogurt dip with everything except with sea food because of all these stories about people getting leucoderma.
@sawadee-er7vu7 жыл бұрын
It is, of course, impossible to contract ANY skin disease from eating seafood with yogurt.
