As I lay here for my dialysis session, I am enjoying this form of music. For myself, it was the film Sorcerer in 1977, listening to that great score by these unheard of musicians. Yes, I was hooked immediately. And have been a fan of theirs ever since. And now, 40+ years later I do my best in letting others know of this band and their sounds. And even though Edgar is no longer here, his influence will continue. And I will take this musical journey well into my old age. Thank you so very much TD.

It's hard to believe that I've been a fan of TD for nearly half a century! When I first heard the import Alpha Centauri LP I was introduced to the Berlin school sound. It was so trippy! Back then it was all Pink Floyd, YES, ELP, Moody Blues and Kraftwerk and anything with synthesizers. Thanks to TD and youtube today we have a great new generation of genius synth artists like BURG, Denis Polic, Tarec Mansur, Ehsan Gelsi, EnyrismusicFR and many more. We are in the Golden Age of Synthesizer music and much of it is because of Tangerine Dream.

Likewise - half a century for me, too (almost). I do remember a local (Vancouver, Canada) newspaper columnist & music writer at the time (this would have been around 1980) writing, in one of his columns for the local newspaper-of-record, that TD was "the thinking man's Pink Floyd." True then. Probably still true today.

Then 29 yrs later in 2012 in Zürich, Edgar still there now with Thorsten, two ladies and a quitarist, a fanstastic show. Now I know I will never see Edgar live again. Watching and listening to this performance, I think ,not just Edgar, but also Christoph and Johannes would nod their head in approval. This re-visits old favourites, but indicates the direction the band is taking. Thorsten Quaeschning taking on the almost impossible job of leadership of the band from Edgar Froese, so well, while Ulrich Schnauss works away in a understated way, providing the sound-scapes and layers of sequencing, which to me, brings back the best of the Tangerine Dream sound. Will grow old listening to my favourite band.

Love the modern interpretation of old classics with modern equipment. I can only imagine what Froese, Baumann & Franke would have been able to create with the tools available now.This is still excellent
@yadasampatidasa86905 жыл бұрын
The modern tools do not offer anything special. Baumann and Franke are still alive and Froese is not so long gone. Their old work from the analog synthesizer time was clearly the best
@RugbyLeagueisbest5 жыл бұрын
.@@yadasampatidasa8690 I beg to differ, what TD did then with the equipment and their skill was and is totally amazing. It was IMO the best variation of TD. Simply the range of equipment available today with its relative ease of use would allow their skills and talents to progress even further. It's not the actual equipment that makes the "music" it's what's in their heads and using the equipment to reproduce it.
@kaptnwelpe53225 жыл бұрын
I would prefer Froese, Schmoelling, Franke if I had to choose a past lineup. I think TD needed time to find "itself" after every sound imaginable got possible with the advance in technology - so the breakup was inevitable. This is a excellent new lineup. And I have no doubts they will create new tracks which will be seen as "classics" in the future.
@ianwaddilove12715 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, when you think about the banks of modular synths, they needed back then, and you look at what Ulrich is programming, but at the end of the day they still need the imagination and creativity which these guys have got. Looks like the Tangerine Dream is in safe hands.

I woke up one day, mumbling with the tune of a song. I searched for a whole 2 days and I found out that I heard that piece of music at a session for Ellen Allien, boiler room session. I was mesmerized with the tune. Too euphoric, ecstatic, just too good. It’s felt like holding that tune so close to heart. I looked for it everywhere. For almost 1 year, searched for it all the Shazam libraries, all playlist, asked and asked. No answer. One day I logged into my SoundCloud account and a little notification, checked and there it is ‘Tangerine Dream - Horizon (jive) This is not a piece of music, it is an introduction to a whole era of electronic music.
