I love Tangerine Dream and I'm preparing my CD dedicated to this band. The title of my album "Tangerine Skies - Tribute to Tangerine Dream". This album will feature a song dedicated to Edgar Froese "Goodbye Edgar" with the subtitle "In memory of Edgar Froese ". I model my electronic music on Tangerine Dream, Vangelis . My music nickname is Mysterious Soul. My earlier album is Spatium Atmospherae ".

What is your opinion of Pink Floyd's early work? I know they were not "electronic" as such, but they had an amazing, layered sound. Are you familiar with the early electronic music of the Barron husband and wife team from the late 1940s and Fifties?

Nice. Hard core TD from the past. Haven't heard a lot of this as of yet. Thank you 👍 Also only just now can you get the 86 under water sunlight Ottawa concert on Utube. At that time the Ottawa art center had the best acoustics in the world for recording. Which is also why the Ottawa concert of the 86 tour was performed as a studio version, and is a lot better than all the other concerts on that tour. Check it out it sounds great, even though it's not the official recording. I have a fan bootleg copy that sounds pretty good even though it's not even recorded properly. While it must sound really good if you are lucky enough to get an official recording. Which are pricey from what I hear.

Thank you! Saw the Toronto Massey Hall concert that year after driiving from Minneapolis. Ottawa is close enough to Toronto that it would have been the same week probably. Cool! Ah, it was - Ottawa was June 20 1986 and Toronto was June 21 and it also is up on youtube!

First time i listened to TD I WAS 17 YO.Rock´n´Roll was a new music style for me and i met Deep Purple,my number one band,LedZepp,Fogath,ELP,Yes,Floyd as well but when i got into a record shop,the clerk told me:__Cezar you do like Progressive Rock,then see it.She showed me Stratosfear.I listed it then i bough the LP.At home i checked it completelly and i got stumped.That work got me paralyzed and every day i used to listen.Tangerine Dream is my fave eletro Prog.band and Edgar Froese is my number one musician of eletronic music

The FCC authorized regular stereo FM to start in the US June 1, 1961; I don't know when the Canadian companies started upgrading their FM stations to stereo, but this was taped only 16 years later; TD was pretty avant-garde in '77. It's also possible the thoughtful soul who taped this for us didn't have a stereo recorder at the time. We didn't get a stereo tape deck (Technics A-100) until late '75 or early '76; if it wasn't on vinyl, I couldn't play it. FWIW, I didn't hear about them until 1980 (word of mouth,) and it was really hard to find any of their albums anywhere until '83 or '84, and even then, mostly in the big stores like Wherehouse and Musicland; in my whole life, I've never heard TD on the radio, and only heard one of their soundtracks used as a music bed by a TV station promoting a movie they were soon showing, with a "trailer" that fit into the standard 30-second spot...with no credit given!

@@korgulltheexterminator581 I have stereo vinyl from the early '60s as well (my dad's collection); stereo was popular in homes, stereo LPs have been around since the early '60s, but the hardware change at a radio station that wants to show a profit almost requires they have a huge audience to justify the cost of upgrade. Even in the '60s, a transmitter cost tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. The issue here is a stereo signal on the air that the guy who recorded this had a stereo receiver and a stereo recorder. There are at least three places where - if one link of that chain is still in mono only - the recording ends up in mono. When did stereo radios start getting issued by Poland's central committees? How many people had them? How many radio stations did they authorise for the upgrade to stereo? Suddenly you have to have two speakers; your per-unit cost goes up. Even in Canada, a tiny, obscure station that is avant-garde enough to play Tangerine Dream isn't broadcasting to large audience, and they aren't as likely to have upgraded to a stereo transmitter as a major AC-format station. My wife spent 25 years in radio, and I'm a amateur radio operator as well as an engineer; all I'm really doing is offering a potential explanation for how it is that this recording could be mono instead of stereo.
