Tangerine Dream & Steve Roach Live in San Diego 9/19/23 (partial)

Tangerine Dream often performs an improvised Session at the end of each concert, sometimes inviting guest artists. Steve Roach was invited to perform on Sunday September 17 in Tucson, Arizona and September 18 in San Diego, California.

It’s not the same without Edgar’s presence on stage. Kenny and I told Steve 15 years ago when we were at one of his Tucson gigs that one day the 2 would meet and collaborate. Edgar’s presence was felt both in Tucson & San Diego. Yes history was made. I was surprised to see so many women in the audience this tour. I’ve been to a dozen TD concerts in Europe & the UK and all were dominated by males, mostly old guys.

All improvised in the moment, nothing pre planned, just pick a key and a common midi clock listen deep and work together in the moment.

Check out some of the other TD "Sessions" in recent years. There are both audio releases, and many videos here on YT. This is what the band has been doing from anywhere between a long encorce, or last third of a concert. It is rooted in what TD with Froese, Franke and Baumann did over 40 years ago on many concerts in the 1970s (available as Tangerine Trees or Tangerine Leaves, if you want to hear those).
