Another thing is to avoid carrying lots of cash in your pockets. Peru is a beautiful country but also they are many thieves (pickpocket). And this accidents happen in the day and night. Try to just take with you a decent amount of money that you might be considering spending the day.. This is what I do. Every time I visit Peru and I’m planning to go shopping, I just take around 300-400 soles in cash( 200 dollars). Because there is a risk someone with a knife or gun can stop me and steal everything that I have with me ( this is true, unfortunately) That’s why I prefer taking just a few amount of cash that can cover my ride to and from the shopping mall, food , and the things I will be buying at the shopping mall(souvenirs, clothes,etc). And if I really like something else, and I’m out of cash, I can come back again, maybe the same day or the next day to go and get it.. It’s not a good idea to be wandering in the streets of Lima with lots of shopping bags, that can attract these “muggers”. It’s always better to have a ride ready as soon as you leave (in this case exiting the mall with your shopping bags) so you can go straight to your ride and be safe. ***If unfortunately you become a victim, DONT fight back, or Refuse to give your belonging, these people have guns and they will do everything to obtain their purpose.

Whether you are a native speaker or you learned Spanish as a second language, you can understand Spanish from any other Spanish speaking country. Differences are not that abysmal. Assuming that they are is like saying Canadians can't understand a word of Australian English, which is not true. Of course, there are some differences, but both are mutually intelligible.
@TangerineTravels5 жыл бұрын
True! What we found particularly difficult were food names being completely different. For instance, we know avocado as “aguacate” in Mexico and in Lima it was “palta.” That’s not really an accent difference so ordering food was tricky, especially with some food allergies we have.

Nice video guys ! So sad to hear about the holes in the windows, it’s not really a common thing here in Lima. It was weird to see that. I think they did it to ventilate when no one is there. but yeah a lot of people don’t have heaters or aircon just because the weather is not that extreme. We do normally use heavy bedding for the winter. I hope one day you can come on the summer and enjoy some of the nice weather and fun things to do. Like going to machupichu in Cusco. usually the different power outlet is no problem, we have almost everywhere 230 Volts in Europe and for me travelling in America North and South has never been a problem. Usually the devices "use" less current, what solves the problem, if you have a higher voltage. (P = U*I, so U or I can vary, P is almost steady) And anyhow, each phone or laptop works perfectly fine with the built in converter in the charger. Greets from quarantine :P

Peru speaks Castellano, or Castilian. Also, Quechua is an official language. Peru is a multilingual country, there are many languages spoken, depending on the part of the country, like Ashaninka, Bora, Aymara, and many more. In addition to the foreign ones, like Mandarin, and Cantonese, spoken in the Chinatown area, or German, in Oxapampa, or Pozuzo. There are even some African words mix with the Peruvian Castellano, in places like Chincha, in the Ica, region. And Peruvian food uses Peruvian ingredients like potatoes, hot peppers, fish, quinoa, lucuma, and so on. There are many ancient Peruvian dishes such as pachamanca, carapulcra, and so on. Peruvian food has also blended, European, Asian, and African, styles. Peruvian dishes like, aji de gallina, estofado, tallarines verdes, chupe de camarones, parihuela, helado de lúcuma, juanes, paiche, arroz con pato, seco de cabrito, empanadas de carne, turron de Doña Pepa, alfajores, and so on, are delicious. And Mexico speaks a Spanish that is a blend with the Nahuatl language of the Aztecs. Spain, speaks a Spanish, with many Arab words, since the Arabs, and Muslims occupied Spain for 800 years. Good video. Good luck.

Percy i dont know if you live in Perú, but it is EXPECTED to give típs in Lima, specially where they are. In restaurants usually you give around 10 %. Personally if my Bill comes around 50 soles, i leave 5 soles as tip. If you are with another person and your Bill is 120. You leave around 7 to 10 soles (no more). If you are a Big group, everyone leave like 2 soles for the waiter. 10 % is not always the rule, tipping in Lima is more like a common sense. (Tengo 34 años viviendo en Lima).
