Thanks Tangerine Travels. A lot of good advice. It is good to find out which ATMs charge the lowest fees. Also to decline conversion and get the rates from your own bank. Charles Schwab will refund your ATM fees if you keep a certain amount in the account. Fees add up fast. Nothing mentioned about what to bring regarding health. Activated charcoal, milk thistle, digestive enzymes for possible dining mishaps.

“Decline conversion” on the atm screen that way the withdrawal is in your bank exchange not the bank Atm

I've been around Cancun, Mayan Riviera and Yucatan and never had a problem converting Canadian dollars to pesos. Did take around $100 US just in case but didn't need it. Only took 1 phone and laptop with me so can't help you there.

Can I bring CBD into Mexico?
@TangerineTravels8 ай бұрын
I'm not sure. By law, I think it's legal now but it still seems to be a bit of a gray area. It can be purchased here but I can't confidently say that you can bring it without problems.

San Cristóbal in Chiapas, due to it's 7000' elevation, can get down to the 40s at night. Generally days are in the 70s. Try to get a south facing room so it warms up nicely during the day.

While it is a good idea to have 6 months remaining validity on your passport, it is not mandatory for Mexico travel. The state department site says passport just needs to be valid through time of travel. If you have a bank that waives ATM fees, then just get your pesos at a cash machine at your arrival airport, just refuse the exchange rate conversion at time of withdrawal and let the bank calculate the exchange. We have a Charles Schwab account. They even waive foreign transaction fees for purchases using the debit card.

Disregard this problematic and incorrect advice from margaretvincent. The U.S. state department site is not your authority in MX. You can and will run into Mexican INM officers who could deny you access into Mexico at points of entry for land, sea, and air travel. Airlines do not want you turned around upon arrival in Mexico, where you would have to purchase another ticket back to the U.S. To prevent this unwanted situation, U.S. airlines will deny you boarding of your flight in the U.S. airport. It is a standard practice to renew your passport before the 6 month expiration date for this reason, and this is common knowledge. Also, Schwab has now begun discontinuing the refund of foreign transaction fees for many accounts so this waiver may no longer apply to all Schwab accounts. Instead, get the Wise card delivered to your home address at least a few weeks before departure to MX. If you have a mailing address in Mexico, then the DolarApp card is possibly the most cost effective means of achieving the best exchange rates with the lowest fees. You can use both the Wise card and the DolarApp card at ATMs to access pesos. Try to avoid airport ATMs at all costs as margaret recommends, they can be the worst place to exchange your USD for obvious reasons. Instead try an ATM at a local bank branch in Mexico with either your Wise of DolarApp cards. The one item that margaret did get right is that you always want to refuse any offer of exchange rate conversion by the ATM. Also, Bank of America has a relationship with Scotia Bank in Mexico so you can use your BoA debit card at Scotia Banks with good results. Most importantly, do all of your own research so you don't end up being misled by Internet chatterboxes. Never listen to me or the margaretvincents of the Internet forums. Do your own work, put in the time, perform your own due diligence. It's your money so don't let anyone else mislead you. Vaya con Dios!😊

@@Bull-BearTrading this is also the case at Canadian airports, you will not be allowed on your flight if your passport expires within 6 months.
@j.a.garcia8687 ай бұрын
@margaretvincent5169 is correct. I think they were referring to Mexico’s state department which does state it needs to be valid for dates of travel. I just got back a few hours ago and I have less than two months left on mine. As far as airlines go yes some may want that 6months but again they don’t enforce immigration laws in Mexico.

You shouldn’t change three pronged plugs to 2 pronged plugs. The third is the ground and it’s the only thing that will save your life if they short out.
