Tangkahan - Revisiting the Jungle Village that Changed Our Lives - North Sumatra

Welcome back to Tangkahan in North Sumatra! Join us in our 3rd and final (for now) vlog as we revisit this incredible jungle village in Indonesia. This STUNNING spot borders the exquisite Gunung Leuser National Park.
Just three hours from Medan and an hour from more the well-known trekking location of Bukit Lawang, this beautiful little Sumatran village is an absolute treasure that not too many tourists know about... yet.
Perched beside two beautiful rivers, Tangkahan is the ideal place to escape into nature, go orangutan trekking in the rainforest, float down the river on tyres, bathe in waterfalls and natural hot springs, and observe the beautiful elephants at the conservation centre.
Tangkahan paradise is a really special place for us - it's Agung's home; it's where we first met; it's where Carly lived for several years before embarking on further adventures with Agung - and it's downright BREATHTAKING!

An upgraded road makes it much more accessible, which means it's only going to become more popular over the next few years! If you'd like the chance to see it while it's still a hidden gem, we highly recommend adding it to your Sumatra travel list asap.

Tangkahan has changed SO MUCH! New road, new shops, new houses - some parts are almost unrecognisable from our last visit in April 2022.
