Another oral tradition says 'Tangkhul' is a Kuki word meaning 'steel' Or 'tampered Iron'. It's a code name used by Kukis for the tribe. During the phase of Kuki migration from Burma , they raided many Tangkhul villages and multiple times but always failed hence the name.

Tangkul aren't Nagas,😅Those Naga tribe eg, chakhesang sema, poumai,Angami and tenyimia are Nagas .But Tangkul there is no similarities with yhe other tribes. Tangkul are just Tangkul with No state.They are neither from Manipuri nor Naga.So please stop claiming that Tangkul are Nagas.
