I'm sorry you even felt you had to explain yourself. Sir you are a hero to these two bucks bcuz w/o you they would have been coyote food. Brave and careful is what you were and you don't need to feel made to explain anything to trolls and haters online. Cowardly people who sit behind their devices who would never be out in the woods with the bravery to do what you did. They just sit around judging others. You did an impeccable job. Very risky to get in close with bucks in rut. One wrong move and you get a antler into your gut and your guts hooked and dragged out of your body. Evicorated! I have seen it. Huge amount of caution and patience to attempt this. Amazing achievement.

I live in the mountains on a horse ranch. Every night the does came to eat in one of the pastures. There were usually around 15 - 20 grazing but during rut their buck is with them watching over his ladies. There were times a challenger would attempt to take the ladies from him until he beat the challenger. Two ruts later I found this buck on a horse trail partially drug under a huge bush. He had been taken down by a mountain lion. I turned my horse around and rode back and told everyone that the trail was closed for the next few weeks until the cat moved out deeper in the forest. That November during rut the ladies had a new buck watching over them. As for the beautiful bucks you freed...bravo. You did a great job. You did what you had to do. We are all the guardians of the wildlife this is one of our jobs. The way I see it is the person who bitches about things like this are petty 500 pounders with no life.

Be careful sir, deer have been known to attack humans. I used to read about these incidents in Outdoor Life Magazine during the '60s and '70s; the November 1969 issue had an excellent story of a hunter getting attacked by a large mule deer buck.
