Tangled the Series || Cassandra (ft Varian) - Nothing Left to Lose { fanvideo }

Much like my Waiting in the Wings video, here is the new song "Nothing Left to Lose" sung by Cass and Varian with their stories mixed in to the video. The song carries lots of emotions for both of them and I was thinking of it all the way through. If it isn't obvious, this isn't a shipping video. That's gross lol
I will post more Tangled videos over the next little while probably. I am very inspired by the show at the moment. It's paced a bit fast but there are just so many good clips sorry!

I've been thinking and I really feel the best path for Cass (Writing wise) would be if she made amends with Rapunzel but then also set off to find herself. I know lots of people just want Cass to go right back where she just was but honestly it'll never be the same, and it shouldn't be. Working in the palace again, going back to being Rapunzel's bestie, or even sacrificing herself for Rapunzel in any way doesn't quite seem right. It would all imply that Cassandra's place really was to serve Rapunzel all along and that her feelings were 100% irrational and bad. Plus Rapunzel just forgiving Cass 100% would be weird too. Raps was very hurt and it will take time to get through it even once Cass realizes her mistake and stops. Anyways, I've just been thinking about possible redemption paths for Cass and I think it'll be tricky

Props to Varian for at least trying to help Cass. He knows what it’s like for everyone to turn their backs on him and he wants to try and make sure she has someone to tell her she has people who care about her. For someone who had no one to turn to, unlike Cass who had so much, that’s pretty big of him.

To be fair, Varian still could've turned to his old friends at any time, just like Cass. They all reached out to him. He was being completely irrational as a villain and now he knows it. He's trying to tell her the same but realizes she's so far gone that she's like "no you just sucked at it lol but I'm gonna be a better villain" even though she once fought against him. The fact that Varian is trying make her reflect more and that she's actually validating his old bad actions is what's really wild for him probably

Catz1a I see what you mean but I don’t think he could’ve turned to them. Rumors were spread that he attacked Rapunzel (who did nothing to contradict them or even checked to see if he was ok and instead took a painting class) so he had to go into hiding. By then he had become desperate. Rapunzel tried to reason with him once but that was about it. Everyone else just immediately treated him like the bad guy. It wasn’t until the third season where Rapunzel finally decided to try and talk with him after she was captured and had no other option, and a good amount of that came after he decided to turn on the crew he had teamed up with. I’m not condoning his past actions, but unlike Cass, it wasn’t entirely his fault.

@@MasterBuilderDragon I do see your point. Cass completely chose her own path even though she still had people to go to. She had a happy ending in sight. For Varian, he is a kid and couldn't see past the direct future which was his father being taken from him due to something that he feels he could've stopped. He turns that anger on Rapunzel much like Cass is doing even though neither situations are her fault. They're both being very irrational but since Varian is younger it makes a bit more sense for him. Still, I find myself more annoyed with Varian's choices than Cassandra. Maybe because, even though it was less prompted, Cass has always had a bit of resentment at never getting what she really wants and having to live her life by other people's rules. Idk. As I said both are irrational but very interesting villain arcs still

But when Zhan Tiri convinced her that was impossible without taking power away from Rapunzel, THAT'S when Cass really started to get corrupted. I don't think she was really evil or out of character during Crossing the Line, but things escalated

Veronica Piccinini at this point I honestly don’t care if she is redeemed or not, wanting her “own destiny” is all well and good but the way she went about it was bad. Blaming and backstabbing Rapunzel was bad enough (her own crazy mother kidnapped Rapunzel, that was never her fault) but she also betrayed her adopted father too. He didn’t have to adopt the kidnapper’s daughter, but he did because he was a good person and she spat on that kindness when she left! So what kind of lesson will this be? “It’s okay you can betray your friends and adopted parent, essentially turn into a half-crazed magical terrorist and threaten a whole kingdom *but because your mother was a neglectful crazy and you’re sorry so everything is okay, all is forgiven, happily ever after THE END!”* The series can really only end one of three ways: Cassandra is apprehended and banished for her crimes, she could die from the evil moonstone power (unlikely since this is Disney) or they’ll reconcile “all is forgiven” and Cassandra decides to leave on her own to “find herself” or some other kid-friendly excuse that explains why she wasn’t in Tangled Ever After. In the end it doesn’t really matter. This is why I hate this show now 😒😒😒

He committed high treason to the kingdom, kidnapped the Queen, almost killed Rapunzel and her friends, because they turned their back on him when he asked for help and to save his father. Personally, I think of Cass and Varian as sort of a Wendy and Dipper situation, not quite shipping but also not in the zone of brother and sister type, I kind of use the term soulmates but not-romantically, though Varian isn't that much younger than Cass so when they're both older, it'd be fine realistically but platonic Soulmates describes it perfectly to me, and due to that relationship I might be reading into this but I like how Cass seems to have a soft spot for Varian

The most infuriating thing about this series for me is that cass was forced to make up with raps, like varian chose to turn back to the right side. He had the option to destroy corona and win but he didn’t, he turned on them to help rapunzel. I mean I don't like the way they did it but it would've been worse if they'd stayed evil. Because it didn't really help either of them actually achieve their goals. They both wanted to be seen as worth something. For a bit they found it in hurting others but they still weren't going to get what they wanted. Cass deserved a destiny completely untied to Rapunzel, including being her rival. Unless you're just being sarcastic or trying to be edgy or something in that case nvm lol

Those 2 don’t compare at all varian had so much justification even if they couldn’t help him at the time he was thrown out into the snow no one came to check on him for weeks everyone believed he had attacked the princess and branded him as a traitor when he clearly didn’t he was chased from his house by guards and in the end all that happened was he got thrown in jail and a terrorist and yet in the end his issues are never acknowledged it’s all his fault for attacking the kingdom what the kingdom did to him doesn’t matter plus he openly acknowledged that he was the villan Cassandra did it because her real mother who was already bad left her and because she felt less important than the legit heir to the throne and yet her issues seem to be serious and in the end it’s not her fault at all it’s all zhan tiri and she actually believed herself to be the hero
