Great video. My go to is uv crush flasher with a blue bubble uv/aqua tint/extreme uv (from purple taco) tied fly. I do my hook setup a little different I will run the treble up front with a 2/0 gam octopus hook as a trailer. for leader length i usually start with double the length of flasher and adjust from there as the fish want it. Protroll makes great flashers as well have had lots of luck on them

Great video, my buddy and I will be fishing out of Holland this spring/summer as newbies so these videos are super helpful. A question I have is do you run dodgers fishing out of Manistee at all or stick to a full rotating flasher/spin doctor? Also, I would love to see a video explaining high versus low divers and how you keep the high divers out of your coppers! Keep up the good work!

Hi!! Just found your channel and thank you!!! Actually it is my 10 year old son that found it and your vids/advice are fantastic. I have always fished for fun and he always came with me. Something happened this spring where he got into and became serious it I've never seen anyone do. He watches vids nonstop and wants to fish every day. He now outfishes the pants off everyone I know including myself and can land smallies, largemouth, perch, and trout in streams no matter the weather, location, time of day, cold fronts...he's become amazing. Learning like a little sponge. Anyway...he now wants to move on from "small fish" lol and on to Salmon, lakers, and even sturgeon. We live minutes from certain finger lakes and are hoping to get some salmon and lakers in the upcoming weeks this October/November. Any advice would be awesome and he (Orlando) would be thrilled getting it. Thanks for all you do!

Congratulations to your son for digesting the knowledge and putting it to great use. And congratulations to you for supporting him. Without knowing where you fish or the techniques used there it would be wrong for me to try to give advice for your area. But I would recommend taking a charter in your area if possible and ask as many questions as possible. Then just get out there and go after it. The best teacher is experience. Thanks for watching the videos and congratulate Orlando for me for becoming such a prominent angler.

At 18:58 you mentioned the hole by fins provides more action. Dreamweaver states the hole by fin to be on inside of rotation and provide less action. I just noticed the discrepancy and wasn’t sure if you accidentally misspoke. I’m a subscriber and appreciate the detailed information on all videos, definitely one of the most informative channels on you tube, thanks

Mistake on my part. I must have got lost in the dialogue and made a mental error. The fins are on the inside of the rotation so it has slightly less action on that setting. Good catch.

Long mono lines with floating Rapalas and Brad’s Thin Fins on planer boards trolling the shoreline. Good colors are gold, silver, orange and fire tiger just to name a few. Also Dreamweaver SS spoons with gold and copper backs work well. Zig zag along the second and third sand bars. Try to find pockets of warmer water and target them. Go get em’.

Hi Chris. As a 2nd year guy I love learning from your videos. Thanks for doing them. I noticed in this video that Dreamweaver flies are pretty straight. By that I mean they tie the "umbrella" affect out of the fly. Most other flies they poof out more. Do you think that one way is better than the other, or is that what makes it unique? I would assume it give it a different action. Little things make the difference, so I figured I'd ask. Thanks, Adam
@tangledtacklefishing
@tangledtacklefishing 5 жыл бұрын
Big-NastyTackle Adam thanks for the question. In the air without any resistance you’re right, some flies look like they would be a larger bait. However, once you put them in the water they all pretty much look the same (slicked back). It’s actually the rotator that provides the action for the fly. Jim

Thxs for the video👌🏻 I troll north shore of Lake Superior for salmon. I have couple questions do you use flasher fly combos in your spread all year? I find end of July August better for flasher fly combo’s. If you do use them all year do you recommend smaller flashers in spring and larger later on. I tend to only use 8” flashers all year. Are larger flashers better in low light? I like to tie swivels on the end of my flies I am afraid of loops breaking. Thxs for your thoughts and observations 🎣🐟
@tangledtacklefishing
@tangledtacklefishing 5 жыл бұрын
Great questions. We do run them all year, but if they’re not producing we will pull them. Smaller offerings are great in the early season along with bright vibrant colors. Bigger flashers or paddles do produce well in low light or deep conditions, but not every day. And I’ve never had a loop break in over twenty years of salmon fishing. They are that durable. Thanks for the great comments and questions.

@rthurman9065
@rthurman9065 5 жыл бұрын
Good job, you hit all the basics. Out here on the left edge, we substitute hoochies for fly's same basic rigging... sort of. Instead of a loop, use a clip to attach the leader to the flasher. I use some sort of cross lock snap or McMahon. Leader lengths typically 2 1/2 times the flasher length for paddle types for a start. Spin doctors are different so the 3 times get you the same results I would think. The sport fleet here uses this set up for coho. Use the same basics recipe for dodgers as well although try 2 times or less on the dodgers for coho. Up your game a bit and rig tournament style. Put a gumdrop of herring, or whatever you use for bait back there on the front hook. You will not ever see a hoochie go out without a gumdrop on the left edge. Well, basically anything we use without scent. Dreamweaver needs to put the ball bearing swivels on both ends. I was shocked to see crane swivels on the back end. I change them out first thing. BTW chinook season opened early offshore here, March 15. We get to catch Californias fish off Oregon. Too bad the ocean will not be calm enough to get out for about another week at least. Combined waves heights 6'+ will keep me at home.

Wow that was the best Hoochies insert I've ever seen. The paddle style Hot Spot where developed by Jack Gaunt for fishing Hoochies. The entire west coast trollers switched up from the old Abe&Al's. Back in the 70s. Okies areas good as Hot Spots. Longer leaders and go fast for coho Don to 22" for slow coho. Go up to 44" or so for Springs 27 1/2 is the ultimate one length and not look back . Again big 4/0 5/0 siwash Mustafa ll bent up in out in like a square ish sickle. Just sail right past everyone cut into point slow down as you were like racing Hoochies The gear will drop in and and the big speed change will make them bite your gear. Those hooks with the eagle beak hook tip that you bend in need a few rubs from the hook file faster than a stone.There called Flashers and I'm jealous of your world record Coho. Man we give you the fish and ya took our record. It's all good. Catching fish on lures is so much fun. I caught a 25lb. Coho on that pokadoted one but a pP4A Wobbler Square thing by its self Shollow. Thight lines.
