Seems such an effortless build! Love the idea of using the boat trailer as a work stand.

Is BS1088 Okoume plywood, 6mm. Paint is Interlux Brightsides, epoxy is MAS epoxy. 130 hours to build over about 3 months

A lively & attractive craft. Lovely job, Captain. A couple of questions if I may: - the measurements of the (beautifully finished) transom? - the purpose of the surprising "pyramids" aft. Flotation or extra storage? Many thanks!
@vupilot9 ай бұрын
The measurements are on the plans from www.tangoskiff.com. The boat is available to be built in several sizes. The aft design provides additional floatation when running solo to keep that boat flatter.

Красивая лодка, я тоже джонбот сделал 3.2 м - как то мало ))), сейчас делаю свою разработку 3.8 м ( и вот на вашей лодке задние баки мне понравились, значит будет 4.2 м = 14 фт ).

Awesome job on your boat! I am building the 14’ version. Do you happen to know what model trailer you have? I am to the point I will need a trailer soon. Thanks.

Nice! I'm thinking of building a Zip. I see that you're also a pilot, you should build a wooden plane next...like a Fisher Avenger. I fly Piper Cherokees/Warriors too.
@vupilot4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. For the time and money seems more cost effective to just buy a plane. I own part of a Cherokee right now but always have my eyes on some experimentals.
@7Calvin4 жыл бұрын
@@vupilot I might build a Sonex if I was going to attempt a plane. Regarding the Zip, would you recommend to a first time builder? I'm doing a 7'10 rowing pram as a learning/practive project. Are there other wooden runabouts that you'd recommend that are similar to the Zip?
@vupilot4 жыл бұрын
Zip was my first build. All the Glen-L designs are straight forward. If your waters are reservoirs and not open water and your typical passenger load is 600lbs or so or less Zip a great boat. Malahini or SkiTow are slightly bigger if you want more room/load. But they may not fit in a standard 20x20 garage on the trailer. Which is why I built the Zip. The time to build a foot or two larger boat is not significant.

I'm wrapping up a Hoosier Tango 13 too. Your build looks great, your Small Boats article sold me on the design (I commented over there too). Would you do the 9.9 again?
@vupilot5 ай бұрын
Hi, it would be great to run out Tango Skiffs together sometime. No, I probably would not do the 9.9 again. 6hp is plenty adequate. I underestimated just how light weight these Tango's are. The only time I feel like the 9.9 is right is when i have a passenger up front.

@G56AG4 жыл бұрын
Looks great, and a big plus for everyone using PFD's when on the water. However, big downgrade for the switching back and forth between the normal horizontal format and the obnoxious vertical format takes a lot of enjoyment out of the video. Vertical video shouldn't be posted online, screens run left and right, not up and down.

You won't like that "bench seat" aft because you will always be twisted up running your outboard. It will be very tiresome.
