Why the bug is a thing, for some reason at certain water heights mobs move super slow, why they are in pre 8? It was proven to be stable and they could back log before 1.13 finally dropped.

I have a tips for you Tango! If you get some phantom membranes you can brew slowfalling potions. Those are really useful in the end when it comes to dragon and shulkers shooting you up. And if you were to fall into the void, you might get time to enderpearl somewhere safe :)

You should have gotten someone on the server to destroy your bed... Then you could go through the portal to your elytra.

When entering the portal from the end to the overworld, you spawn in your bed, but if there is no bed, you spawn at world-spawn, where also items that fall through the portal go to. So if someone would break his bed in the overworld, he would also spawn at worldspawn.

I think spawning in an item actually makes sense when you lose it due to an issue or a bug within the game itself. To even suggest it would ruin the survival experience is nonsense as he killed the dragon which drops the elytra, which means he would be getting something he was supposed to anyway.

The water pushing mobs more slowly as it gets shallower is definitely intended. I've heard about it before. For mob farms you might just want to make them go down a fairly steep slope, so it doesn't get shallow as fast, and/or end your streams and start the next after a few blocks, not the full 8. Or in some cases, just let them be slow.

I had an awesome idea. You could build a giant snake (or a dragon maybe?) popping out from the ground of your marvelous mount of happiness and pancakes and you could fly into the snake/dragom to enter your base. I think that would be a pretty good idea for a fantasy style.

Now that you've got an End Islands portal up and running, you could probably do a suicide run to find an End City. Bring along an ender chest, throw it in as soon as you get it, and try to make it back alive. Don't take stuff you'll miss.

Skelly not falling with water edge is a 1.13 thing. you have to build the drop back one more, and have final water blade hovering over some signs.

About your lake... if magma blocks don't do it for you ( if they look ugly) may I suggest covering the bottom of the lake in dirt and then sprinkling soul sand around in and amidst the dirt( for the bubbles )

the water issue is something gnembon was complaining about a couple days release was due... they made a last minute change, and broke water transport systems.you have to keep deep water streams to keep them moving
