These boats are a serious competitor to nuclear subs, ok a nuclear powered sub has masses of power and can cruise faster but its as noisy as hell. A nuke powered boat needs to cruise at between 5-10 knots to have any sort of stealth, plus the complexity and maintenance issues. A overhaul of a nuke boat is a major project. Nuke boats are a major financial commitment. These new boats are hybrids, diesel electric plus hydrogen, the hydrogen power system allows these things to be super quiet, their not as fast as a nuke boat but now they have the range up to cruising halfway around the world between re fuelling. They also have a stirling engine running on hydrogen no moving parts completely silent. Super silent, long range, shallow draft and fast I can see why Israel likes them.

I feel bad for the Israelis that they still have to put up with those muslims in their country. They should have forced them out of their rightfully won land after the war, like the Russians did to German civilians. And while German civilians actually froze to death leaving the lost lands, no Muslim would have frozen to death leaving Israel. Israel just lacked resolve when it really counted. Even today Israelis pay the price for the failures of their ancestors, while there has been peace between Germany and Russia for 75 years.
