I was not aware you could turn the volume limit off the AOTE campaign, but I fully support your decision to do so. Edit: I see now that the option is RIGHT THERE in the campaign launch window. Either that's new since I tried it (before UI overhaul) or I'm more oblivious than I realized.

I would like the volume limit in ashes of the empire if the enemy also used the limit. Being forced to build small is an interesting idea, and really encourages efficiency, but faction craft should also be limited in exactly the same way. If it’s a campaign about small efficient craft everyone should be rocking up with small efficient craft.

Yay! A land campaign! Recently tried out the ashes of empire campaign and well... as it turns out using replicas of ww2 french tanks isn't a good idea when facing literal giant moving castles... Just wish the ai had more small craft to fight.

I started FtD with AotE, Before the major weapon overhauls, when Latharix was doin his second AotE campaign. I made really bad tanks, and Ironically, they did beat the easier DWG designs whilst also being cheap. They used 200 mm crams. They did horribly, like I lost a whole bunch fighting a King Cobra, because back then, the KC has timed frag, which just destroyed my tanks. They were mostly made not out of metal.

Extra special long episodes are my favorite! Totally agree on the build limit. It would be neat to have an ashes campaign where the enemy abides by the limit. IMO games should be designed without the need to make the AI cheat.

Hey BorderWise! I just wanted to say Hi, and also to tell you I have made the land canoe! I made it after you inspired me to try first time the AOTE campaign. Essentially, it is a zillion magnets inside of a huge missile that comes out of the top of the tank, protected by shields and a CIWS. I'm proud of it, and it is beneath the volume limit, even though I'm also not going to play with the limit either. It is able to take out most of the godly designs, except for some of the laser hovercraft. (Also, I support your decicion to take away the limit. It seems like an outdated limit that the devs may have to update with some changes to the Advanced and CRAM cannon systems that make them impossible to make with such a small area. At least any useful ones.)

Well an interesting option that, partially, covers both the logistics issue and you're tank issue, is the pipeline outpost option, as you gain land you build a set of buildings, within supply reach of each other, that due to not needing to move, and having a direct resource feed, can have bigger weapons, and heavier armor then most thing at their volume

I WAS going to say that you can't build or repair unless you are next to your own border ...but then your tanks repaired, way over there. Maybe a glitch from being on the edge of the map or it only applies to repair bots... As for stuff to build. You like your Doom-Cram right? What about something based on the P.1500 Monster? I can offer a bit of advice on getting tank tracks to work if needed.

OH DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW MUCH DID I WAIT FOR YOU TO PLAY ASHES!!! You are doing very well, my first ashes campaign was a train wreck, I got attacked by LH, OW and DWG at the same time, it was one ROUGH start, but you are doing incredibly well, you have some amazing vehicles, I especially like your hovercrafts, they look really stylish, the only thing that I would say is that you shouldnt have overly specialized crafts, for example you dont need a vehicle for copperheads only, a generalist minigun can deal with everything from DWG except their bosses, Tremor and Land Marauder. Also, I have to apologize myself for saying that 2000 volume limit was a good thing, now that you can play without it I realize just how much fun it is to send Doomsday landships, ESPECIALLY with the reworked crams, you are still early in the campaign but believe me you will be spamming cram monsters left and right in the late game, APHE can obliterate pretty much every single craft in the game in a single shot :D Also I see that you used my song, now I dont know if you liked or disliked Shallower Waters but dont worry I am making one like the Orca :D Also, the 'Save your Game' authoritarian propaganda is something I want to see in every Ashes episode from now on ;)

I mean you don't need to fight around the volume limit, personally I prefer playing with a self set volume limit of around 7k, since other factions field ridiculous landships. Also let's you do silly stuff that normally would not work in something like the Nether. Personally what annoys me more is the starting random relations, which can make you end up in a 3v1 from the get go.

Hey Borderwise, I'm really sorry if this is a bother but I know you have a big voice in the FtD community and I have an urgent issue with the game. When using the prefab tool to delete many blocks at once, it is extremely loud. I had the volume set on 0.3 and my system volume set to 80%, and when I used the delete all feature to delete the superstructure of a ship I'm building, the sound was literally ear piercing and left my ears ringing for a minute or two. It seems that it's adding the volume of all of the block deletions together and outputting at an extreme volume. I've put in a bug report for this but there are thousands and I consider this to be extremely important considering this can cause hearing damage. It sounds far fetched I know but try deleting a few hundred blocks at once with the prefab tool. Be very careful though. Thanks man.

Put it in the request tracker anyway, the devs are pretty good at dealing with stuff on there. In the meantime, spread the word and keep the volume level down (mine is usually at 0.1).

I wanted to ask, how thick are the armor on all the possible sides on the armored cars and what kind of material did you make them from? I'm always struggling with armor, almost all the time, my vehicle's turrets just plop straight off after a shell impact,

It's spaced metal and applique, 2m thick all around. It's strange, but the shape and spacing of the armour and hull seems to be more important than how thick it is when building land vehicles. The usual rules for HA apply too: save it for when you need it, and don't overdo it. I'm finding it's helpful to build a AFV in metal first and then add extra armour to the parts that seem to be damaged most frequently. Turrets are a real pain for land vehicles. The best thing for them I'v found so far is to make their profile as low as possible, armour the turret itself (free air gap!) and plaster applique all over it.

I'm glad to see you doing AOTE but this wasn't the most thrilling footage. Space bombing stuff that can't fight back isn't very exciting. I'd prefer to see more land vehicles that can slug it out with their opponents and deliver big CRAM hits that do more than just chip away at the enemy.

I think that they should reduce the resource gained from mining and disable the block limit for AotE or allow the player to increase their volume limit as they claim more land. This way, the players can't build massive craft at the beginning due to the limited volume and resource but as they claim more land they can of course make their vehicles bigger. The trade off being that the bigger the machine, the more expensive it becomes and you won't be able to field as many of them and it may become difficult to defend all of your land with only a few large machines as opposed to swarms of smaller ones.

Bit early to say anything conclusive, but the strategic AI in Ashes seems to like building static defences a lot.
