Love your videos. Harvesting wild is always about learning. You are correct with your Prawn idea, but you also see that they arent quite the same. It is adout sustainability. Prawns are different..

Isn’t it maybe not a good idea to hunt a male Lingcod that’s guarding a nest?..the eggs would be left defenseless.

Hi Julia! You are right and it is not even allowed to hunt any Lingcod in winter in BC for exactly that reason. I am looking for them because I have never seen a Lingcod guarding an egg mass and I would love to see that up close. As you can see in the video I haven't had my speargun loaded for the whole trip. I just had it with me incase I would see anything that is currently open to hunting but we had so much luck with the crabs that I didn't feel the need to use my speargun. I enjoy just looking at what the ocean has to offer more than spearfishing and if I spearfish I always try to act as responsible as possible!
