Sheridan was actually nerfed several times over the years. Power/weight ratio, dpm, penetration and terrain resistance I believe. And Reactive armor negates 27% of damage taken of all shells except HE :)

It's never a good idea to "grind" a line. That's so monotonous, boring and teaches you less. When playing multiple lines at once, you get exposed to more battle scenarios along the way, learn the characteristics of more tanks, and get more out of each tank in the line. In fact, by using the 2XP certificates on each tank every day, you progress faster in terms of battles. Elite players constantly complain about players rushing to tier 10, and I just saw two such players promote grinding and only the tier 10. What about the journey? With that said, my suggested lines to play, especially for new players, are E100, Object 268, TVP, and Sheridan. The first two are iconic lines for heavy and TD, and include excellent tanks along the way. The medium TVP line is excellent from even tier 4, and offers variety in style. Similarly, the light line with the fun Chaffee culminating in the powerful Sheridan. I would bring them along through the tiers together, and if don't like one, abort it and start something else. I once had 29 lines active, playing those to fulfil various missions. For example, 3XP certificates drop from clan missions and one might be win 4 times in a medium. If all you're doing is grinding a heavy line, you miss those certificates.
