I always see the shout out "We were here" as a message to universe. Like so many signals like tv and radio are leaving our planet, maybe someone or some(it) may receive this particular "We were here" in the future (those signals can be on it way for a long hime through space) on a far away planet and they will know that we lived. That we were part of this universe and don't want to be forgotten.

Few fun facts : - Yes, fireworks crew used in ears. They tested that everything worked the night before - Nightwish had 6 trucks full of gear for that night (You can see trailers behind fireworks launch station) - Nightwish had a crew of 50 for that night - There were about 50 construction workers doing everything from flooring the Track & Field to stalls and fences (I was one) - Construction started on Monday before concert. Deconstruct was over on Tuesday - Actual stage is owned by city of Tampere and is used other in big concerts and festivals

They truly love their crew. When I saw them in Helsinki two years ago it was the last show of their drum tech who was with them for a decade or so. They had him come on stage after The Greatest Show On Earth, told the audience about what a great guy he is, gave him some form of a present (I don't remember what it was exactly) and were so emotional when they had to go off stage. Even their former drummer Jukka joined on stage to say farewell. The audience was cheering for this tech the same was they were for the band. Probably one of my favourite concert moments ever.

Fun fact: before the Enter Sandman part there are several other references to musical works. In order of appearance: asian monk chants, "Dies Irae" a gregorian melody from the Middle Ages, Bach, which is then followed by the theme from Prelude and Fugue in d minor, then Enter Sandman and after that a few beats of dance/techno. It's essentially a millennia of musical evolution compressed into a few minutes.

As a die hard Nightwish fan, that comment about Nightwish "repeating" their old songs, is a valid point. They use the same drum comping in a lot of their songs. The melody structure follows the same structure in many of their songs. Does this mean they are a bad band? Hell no! Nightwish is about stories and the beauty that comes when many different music genres collide. I think that Tuomas is one of the best music writers today and and this song is a good example for that.

I wholeheartedly agree on the notion that this song is "culmination everything Nightwish has done" at the time. When I heard this song first time on the album, I was overwhelmed and loved every second of it. And then I felt little bit sad, because I thought that this masterpiece could never be performed live. But then Nightwish did perform it live and I were blown away in the audience!
@Ohhelmno4 жыл бұрын
The part with Metallica actually has quite a few musical tributes right before it, the chanting grunts would be like a super early music, Dies Irae, a Gregorian chant, some of the earliest structured music, Bach’s Minuet harpsichord piece, as well as Toccata and Fugue in D Minor as kind of a tribute to the classical influence of nightwish and a further step in musical evolution, and then of course Metallica’s Enter Sandman, and then some electronic music after, kind of completing the circle of musical influence as well as bringing us from early man through to the present. It’s a very cool and unique moment, and really plays well on the theme of the song. Edit: For those who missed Toccata it is from 24:40-24:49 they play it as the main riff after the Minuet and the laser beam sound hits.

This song makes my eyes teary from the first note with every listening, and then Floor sings "we're here to care for the garden" and the sobbing begins. Can't express how deep the theme of the song cuts, with the melody only amplifying its meaning. We're truly lucky to be alive and to be able to wonder at the marvels of the universe, from the colors of leaves and animals to the infinite variety of the species. And when you're a science nerd studying biology, there are moments where your head just blows at the face of the amazing impossibility of life. We should all be taking care of this planet. Life is a rare and extremely fragile event in the universe (as far as we know), and we can't afford to let it die out of selfishness, ignorance and greed. @ Well, let's be fair: The lyrics are not exactly easily accessible. They are most of the time so metaphorical and so full of hints to the most varied inspirations, you have to be butt deep into the Nightwish universe bubble to get even half of them. And in this particular piece of art, you also have to be as deep into biology and/or similar scientific fields, to get the lyrics. I mean, sure, 'Little Lucy' and 'Goldilocks Zone' might be familiar terms for many, but 'LUCA'? Devonian Sea? From a stellar nursery into a carbon feast? I bet there are more than enough people, who were and still are confu-chan. People who are, like me, very interested in different scientific fields (among other things), have kinda cried tears of joy.

I haven't been to a Nightwish concert yet but I assume that the "We were here" part would make me feel the same way that the first time I heard a whole full stadium chanting the lyrics and solos for "Fear of the dark" It was magical and for the first time in ages i felt happy and part of something bigger (If that makes any sense)

This recording is awesome! This was not cheap to do! The band pays for all of this. Thank you NIGHTWISH for doing this!!!

A bit of trivia. They booked this venue to end their tour so they could be home for Christmas. Floor's parents and sister were in the audience. She said she couldn't look at them often because she would start to choke up with emotion.

nothing makes me miss live music more than Nightwish....😢😷

I have heard that Nightwish and Dream Theater (and probably others) have been taking steps to help out their crew members, who are also stuck at home during the pandemic.

@TankTheTech - I just want to mention that I watched this video 2 years after it you put it out and there are 12K likes and zero dislikes. I don't think it's even possible to not like one of your videos! You are awesome at what you do! Have a great day ✌

To be fair, there are 74 dislikes on the video. KZbin hides dislikes from public view now, but creators can still see them in their analytics.

This one is so epic, as someone who has studied biology at the university and is a huge fan of both Nightwish and Dawkins, what an unexpected surprise this song is.

I was at the Wembley gig on this tour. Hearing this live was just completely breathtaking and I was crying like a baby afterwards.

That's what I love about Nightwish. They are flat out professionals with amazing talent. However, while providing us with their talent, they are having so much fun its infectious. The fact that they are having fun makes the entire concert a tremendous experience and the fun ends up spreading to the crowd and it turns into so much energy!! I can't wait for this covid stuff to be over so I can see them again!

It was the last song. The whole day was a build up to this - Sonata Arctica + Bodom, and then 2hrs of Nightwish. And even that I start to repeat myself, YES, I WAS THERE! And it was awesome

Ok, now that you have reached graduate level Nightwish, we want to to expose you to The Human Nature Album. As it was released after the world wide lockdown means only one live performance exists of How's the Heart Acoustic (Planet Rock).

There a few songs where he must not deviate from the request and this one of those songs. Or he could do a double reaction That whole album needs a reaction. I would watch a whole album reaction in one sitting. Maybe he could do disc one on one day and then disc two anther day

So I've been listening to Nightwish for close to 20 years now, and this is actually the first time I've listened to this song in it's entirety. I was absolutely not disappointed and yes "we were here" hit very hard (half expected them to go into Alpenglow after lol). Thank you so much Tank, this was an awesome experience. And as always, please check out Shudder Before the Beautiful, still my favorite.

Your comment about themes repeating is spot on. I love that aspect of their music as well. I’ve lost count of how many times the words “meadows of heaven” are in their songs.

I'm glad you did the Wembley outro, because I was gonna hop on Discord and throw that video at you if Chase didn't already. Hahah. Nicely done, as always. Hope you keep enjoying them.

Once that you hear the song multiple times, you appreciate more the phrase "We Were Here!". Celebrate and enjoy life.

FINALLY SOMEONE WHO WATCHED IT WITH SUBTITLES. Damn that's so rare to find among the reacts but for this song it's kind of a very important part of the experience. Glad you had it like that.
