@sassytbc79233 жыл бұрын
@@amandamartinez6124 what is that??
@maelynnwolertz4398 Жыл бұрын
@@sassytbc7923What is resin? Or, what is UV resin? Or both? Resin is generally a clear plastic that starts as a liquid which will become solid and can be used for mold making. Or, for protecting/encasing a surface. There are more varieties of resin that are available on the market than before which makes the newer resins easier to work with. (Less dangerous, less fragile, less yellowing, less unintentionally bubbly, etc.) Most resin work I hear of nowadays is generally epoxy resin or UV resin. If it doesn’t specify “UV” or another type then it’s likely epoxy. UV resin is a type of resin that doesn’t need to be mixed by the person using it unlike many other resins which have a part A & part B which have to be mixed according to instruction. Since UV resin does not require mixing, what starts the hardening process from liquid to solid is UV light->hence the term “UV resin.” Oftentimes people will have a UV emitting tool to help UV resin harden, though hypothetically the sun should be able to harden it as well. Which…this is why the containers for UV resin are not transparent so it can avoid UV light and remain in liquid form until it is used. And, UV resin when exposed to sufficient UV light instantly hardens unlike other resins which take time/patience. Some people have used resin with Cricut & I am new to Cricut, but have used resin for a while…which the resin use for me started in conjunction with painting & layers of glazing because it was firmer & held stronger over various surfaces than many painting mediums.

Brand newbie here. Have watched you a little bit before I made my purchase. I've just used my Cricut for the 1st time last week and I had heard that Dollar Tree had vinyl, so not only did I buy Cricut brand but I also bought Dollar Tree brand to practice with. I saw how loose the letters (I cut a phrase) seemed to be the 1st time with the DT brand removable, so I tried it again a 2nd time I just burnished it after I placed it on the blue mat that came with the machine before I cut. That seemed to help a great deal. I had it set to vinyl and the default pressure. After my 3rd try and it finally came out right, I tried it on the Siser brand Glow in the dark white iron on vinyl, mirrored and it came out great! So I would say if nothing else the Dollar Tree is great to use when you are learning so you don't waste so much money on the expensive stuff I also thought I might use the DT vinyl from time to time maybe for a window cling!

Great video! I use this vinyl all the time but I will tell you it works really good on the everyday vinyl setting as well!

I finally found some at a dollar tree, I tried to cut out similar shape letters with "less" pressure and the same happened, but I tried it out with a bigger shape and it worked out fine

I liked the road trip aspect and the comparison. Also love the problem solving as well.

I can appreciate your attempt to do a comparison video of vinyl. 👍🏼I honestly have not tried EITHER vinyl in my Cricut. (I use to work in a sign shop and prefer Oracal.) The very first thing I noticed that the back of the Cricut vinyl is WHITE when you where testing the stickiness. That definitely attributes to the opacity of the color in dark colors. What concerns me is the lightfastness. With the color being printed onto the vinyl, it may not wear as well. Does it scuff and expose the white? Over time, in sunlight, does it slowly lighten?? The Crafter’s Choice vinyl is the same color all the way through; it would still show scuffs, but no white. I’d be interested in seeing a follow up video when you leave the pot out side for a month or more. (Rotating periodically of course) 🤓

I, too, got excited when I saw the Dollar Tree vinyl, and I brought one of each color they had (5 colors, $5 investment). Which wasn't a huge gamble. I am so glad you did this video, as I was disappointed as well, but you know the saying: "you get what you pay for".

Im new to vinyl projects and this has been great for practice before I cut. I also have used it on glass blocks for an emergency last min gift and it honestly looked great. I HATE rolls as a newbie tho. Wish they just sold it in sheets.

I use the dollar tree vinyl and hand cut my unique designs. As an artist who creates her own designs and uses hand tools, the dollar tree vinyl is great. I especially love the elegance of the glitter vinyl. Thank you dollar tree! Btw: I was given the cricut joy as a gift. One try and I knew it wasn’t for me -cricut joy was returned -the freedom to make each piece unique just wasn’t there. The dollar tree transfer paper was too thin -I bought Duck adhesive shelf liner from walmart -It works best. Good luck

Thank you for the comparison video actually just bought some Dollar Tree vinyl the other day cuz I just started with the crafting thing. I used it on Dollar Tree wood plaques and it was good for that. I appreciate all your videos they've been very helpful

Great comparison demo! Although I would love to save money on my vinyl the Dollar Tree vinyl is just too difficult to work with and the quality just isn't there. I don't sell my stuff but I do give away as gifts so this would be a pass for me. However if I needed to do a quick project I'm not saying I wouldn't try it. Thanks!

I'm totally ignorant about cricut, i just stumbled on this video. You did a really great job. I really like that you kept trying with the cheaper brand and made it work and that we got to see you have a hard time starting the corner on the thicker one. That's a problem with all kinds of crafts!

Ooooh, I’m not loving the Dollar Tree vinyl. As a “baby designer”, I am still trying to learn how to cut, place, and weed good vinyl. I’d probably have a heart attack with the DT vinyl. Lol! I make tumblers, so every detail matters. *HOWEVER* if I was doing a craft (maybe a farm style tray, or planter) where a lighter color could be used under the DT vinyl, I might be more willing to use it. For now, I’ll stick with the better brands. Thank you so much for doing this comparison tutorial. I greatly appreciate it! Also, you have earned a new subscriber! 🥰

So I love the dollar store vinyl in the right setting! I test cut, it’s awesome! I can see if I like my design and if it’ll go together. It’s even more awesome with the kids! They can use the vinyl and make tags pictures cards for friends…all the things that we wouldn’t have let them use our premium vinyl to make. Would I sell anything with it%? Absolutely not! I’m excited to try stencils and some mixed media applications. I also just got some glitter, my thought in store I’d that on like tags or card the glitter from cricut it just too thick, will this work better if it is thinner? I’m going to try and find out. I also use pretty chunky cuts like a Christmas tree without scroll work. Just my thoughts others might totally disagree. 😀

Ty for this. Great info! I have seen other crafters use two sticky lint rollers to place of each side of the flower pot, to keep it in place.

Thank you, Tanner, for the thorough comparison! I’ve seen many video comparisons and they only do simple cuts like circles or hearts. But the majority of our projects obviously require lettering and intricate cuts, so I don’t think their test was a true indicator of what we would experience in most of our projects! Your excitement in Dollar Tree and Hobby Lobby is definitely relatable, lol! I also had the same reaction the first time I ran my DT glitter vinyl through my Cricut and cancelled the cut many times. Is there a similar transfer tape that is clear and not too tacky? I guess this is white. I’m looking for something like that but clear so I can still see the design and transfer on bulletin board paper without it ripping the paper when I peel the transfer tape. Thank you!
