Nop, the lowest note I hit (excluding the last chord) is a C# in the sevenstring. Which is 1/2 tone below the D you're talking about. I guess if you tune the whole guitar 1/2 tone down, and then tune it to drop C#, it would be possible. I hit the low B in the seventh string at times too, but that's just some random improv I was doing, I just felt like it at that time.

It depends on the song. There are songs I only need to listen to 3 or 4 times, others, like another person already answered, take me 30 or 40 times. Sometimes more, sometimes less. That's kind of a difficult question xD

You could drop c. That means all the strings are down a whole step and the low e string would be drop c instead of drop d (2 whole steps)
