Another fun fact, Tanya is basically high af when fighting. She (dunno if all mages do this) can induce the effects of meth (like it was used in ww2) via magic. This is also one of the reasons for the giant smile in combat, because of the feelings of euphoria. This was never explained in the show, therefore I do not see it as spoiler.

In the novel and manga all the mages have this happen. Used to be a common occurence to dope up combat troops before combat in real life as well

During WWII German food rations included combat drugs... until the allied forces destroyed some of the factories where they were produced and Hitler ordered the drugs to be sent back to Germany because he was an addict and didn't want to run out of the stuff.

its a lil different then meth magic doesnt have side effects unless you use it a lot and tanya is constantly using magic to make herself physically stronger which is why she gets a lil high as a side effect but most mages dont get this

It comes friggin late, but the Type-95 and the other crystals that all mages carry on their chest are called "Computational Jewel" and they are something like a magical computer designed to accelerate the arcane calculations the mages need to cast some spells, as well as making some things automatic, like 3-Dimensional movement when they are flying.

Nice! Note: when they are talking about altitude the subtitles say meters, but it should be feet. Tanya are going up to heights where you would start to provide oxygen for breathing, but 10km up would be a whole other story~

Tanya have 4 cores and can cast 4 spells at a time i think. 1.Flight 2.Mage Shell 3.Oxygen 4.Decoys The cartridges are enchanted beforehand if I remember correctly.

No, it's meters. They're in Europe, so it makes sense that they would use an actual decent metric system, instead of a idiocy that is "feet", "pounds" or "inches".

@@Gtse69 no it is not, in the light novels it is clear that they are using feet for altitude, and that makes sense for what happens to people when they are so high up. Note that only Tanya and her group can generate oxygen while flying due to their newer computation orbs, and 6000-7500m would still be quite deadly for everyone else, not to mention how cold it would be 10000 meters up and any other issue that arises up there..

While watching this, consider that the real title (幼女戦記 or Youjo Senki) translates to roughly "War Diary of a Little Girl". War diary, war record,, war history, or battle record.

this is one of my gripe with the localization, the title implies that Tanya is "evil" when every step that she take, while sometimes morally questionable is always follow the rule of combat. Heck most of the time the other side is the one who break the rules and she had to adapt to it.

In the light novel, it is explained that her praying is not a conscious choice. If she uses the type 95, she automatically starts praying. That is why she actually carries 2 orbs, 1 for normal use and then the type 95 if shit hits the fan. The prayer is not the payment to use the orb. It is the fee. That means that when she is in desperate situations, she will start singing praises for God while flying around the battlefield, raining death on her enemies.

I don't like the English title of the Anime, as it should be "warchronicles of a little girl". Would be a more proper translation. Tanya isn't evil, she did nothing wrong, she's just adorable ^^

I agree Sticking w/ Youjo Senki would have been more accurate & preferred; however, I would like to throw this perspective at you. The English title of this Anime (Manga/Light Novel) is given by the Allied Forces. Throughout this Story she is identified by the Republic Forces (and later everyone else she fights) as the "Devil of the Rhine." Would a good person be called a devil? No. Only the most evil, would get the moniker of Devil. But why is she called a devil? Simply b/c she ends anyone & everyone that steps up to her no matter how strong they are. Tanya is an ungodly force of death & destruction on the battlefield fitting of the title, Devil And as such, she is Evil, Tanya the Evil & this is her Saga.
