I lived in Tanzania as a Burundian refugee (1977-1982, 1984/1985), some pick-pocket stole my wallet at the Dodoma bus terminal (at the main market). I was lucky to find a fellow traveler who lent me some money so that I could return to my work station in Nzega District (Tabora Region). After I learned Swahili, only my co-workers knew that I was a foreigner. I still have fond memories of Kahama, Karagwe, Nzega, Tabora, one restaurant in Singida, Dodoma... When ever hear the songs Sina makosa, Shauri yako,...I reminescence Swai Bar in Dodoma (with its roasted chicken and kachumbali. I always will be grateful to Tanzania and its wonderful people.
