The Tao Te Ching was written in China roughly 2,500 years ago at about the same time when Buddha expounded the Dharma in India and Pythagoras taught in Greece. The Tao Te Ching, traditionally credited to the 6th-century BC sage Lao Tzu, is probably the most influential Chinese book of all times. Its 81 chapters have been translated into English more times than any other Chinese document.
Translation by Feng, Gia-Fu & Jane English.

Your readings of the great teachings are very high quality and so professional, and that's only the half of it. You have an artistic flair by way of your voice, timing and background music. Your channel is my favorite, because it flows like a river on the Island of Gold beneath the clear, azure blue of the mind's sky where all can drink freely and quench their thirst after wandering through the parched desert of ignorance. Thanks again and again. Heartfelt appreciation! Tashi Delek

in '72, wandering around, apparently lost in life, a young man comes across this book and buys it with what little funds he has after reading the first chapter - and a seeker is born and the first step of a thousand mile journey is taken..still lost in the mystery of this beautiful writing and the wonderful translation and photographs of this rendering. Thank you for your creative reading of this timeless guide.

wow - same happened to me in '91. wandering through the streets a little bit lost in the world and sniffing through rummage tables in bookstores and suddenly I left with 2 books ; the Tao Te King and a small booklet called Wu Wei, not even knowing what I have bought and that Taoism exists at all... Thank you for reading this great peace of Art!

Hi Daniel, thanks for your suggestion with this and concern. I do like this translation - very poetic. Yes, we are back at the monastery now after over 1 month away in exile. All buildings survived and we had a major and rather brutal back burn done on the property - it doesn't look pretty and there's major mess to attend to - but at least it stopped the major fire front coming through and destroying all the buildings as well. Other properties around the town weren't so fortunate.

Hi Daniel, totally agree with your assessment of the Universality of the Truth in the essence of all teachings, hence my eclectic taste in a range of Master's words.

Hi Bryan, thanks for your concern. All the buildings at the monastery survived a vicious back burn but the property/land is very badly burnt and will take a long time to recover. Still, we managed to avoid the main fire front coming through which could have possibly taken everything out. We have quite a big clean up ahead of us too with fallen trees and debris, and then we had torrential rain that washed a number of paths and roads away. Interesting climatic times we are living in! Hope all is well in your world :)

Samaneri Jayasara - Thank you for the reply. I am glad it was not worse. Burnt forest frequently restores surprisingly fast. I share your page frequently and many people I meet are interested. Thank you for still finding time to do these things- you are truly selfless and compassionate. I am confident these recordings bring light, love, and wisdom to the world.

@Samaneri - Namaste Sister 🙏🏻 could you please offer some clarity on 28:16 - “way of nature is unchanging” and how would this be related to impermanence?
@SamaneriJayasara
@SamaneriJayasara 2 жыл бұрын
In this instance they are referring to the Ultimate Nature, pure Dharma or Tao, the Absolute. The way of the Ultimate nature is changeless, timeless, free of birth and death, coming or going, or decay. The way of all compounded things is impermanence, change and decay - that is its nature. Hope this helps to clarify.

Don't look to find yourself if you are not willing to lose yourself. Have your tried going on a journey knowing you will never come back without leaving the room.you can experience it when you experience relativity, sitting on a train when the other train moves gives one the same feeling of helplessness. Take that and multiply it with infinity.

If you have found one activity that has stayed with you and given you eternal happiness, then you have found the Buddha, if not, looking into ways for you to be eternal in activity is futile. Find the emptiness in all activity and you will find infinity in this finite existence that we call life.
