Hi, friend! Great video. We were at the canyon bridge in 2002. Back then there was the story of some drug dealers who threw a teen kid off the bridge to his tormented death, There was one of those memorial crosses that people put wherever there's been a death. We found out later after investigating on the Internet. We also saw a dilapidated pick up truck very close to the edge, under the bridge, product of some accident. It is a haunting and beautiful place, indeed.

FYI, the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge was in the movies "Twins" with Arnold Schwarzeneggar and "Paul" with Simon Pegg. Also, all the dark rocks along the cliff are volcanic rock.

This road is an amazing drive, this is what exploring the west is all about. Cruise this in a great car with great music and stop by the side of the Rio Grande for a picnic and a dip.

From the direction my camera was pointing and checking the Topo maps on my GPS you are right on both counts. I guess from that distance I was a little disorientated. I have camped out in that canyon heading towards Angel Fire and Eagle Nest a number of times. A friend always referred to the area heading north out of Taos as Ranchos de Taos. Not sure why he assumed that. Anyway, thanks for the update. I guess any folks heading there will figure it out. Place isn't that big. :-)

Hello @sandiaman, my name is Richard Sweeting I am a Photography major at Santa Fe University of Art and Design and I am curious if you would allow me to use clips of this video for an art project about the rio grande for school. You wouldnt need to send me a file for the project works better if i just take them straight from the internet (the project is an aggregation of things on the internet). I would just need an ok from you so i can continue with the project. Hope to hear from you soon!

Just a little off on your orientation. When you point the camera at the gorge bridge and say that is the canyon to angel fire you are off by one canyon, it is the next one to the south just past the burned area. Also when you orient the camera in the same general direction you called it ranchos de taos, you are still pointing towards taos. Ranchos de Taos is four miles south of that location so you are a bit off. I

@carlitoswayman Your right. I did some more checking on the net concerning this story. It was in 1998. Anyway....sorry for your loss. It is horrible thinking of an 18 year old kid having his life end this way. I'm the kind of guy who thinks if justice had prevailed, the two scumbags(David Sandoval, 23, of Taos. Luis Acosta, 19, of Taos) who did this would have been thrown off that bridge themselves after being set on fire. If there is a hell, you know these two are going there.
