Video Transcript:
hi
my name is kaitlin verchimak i'm a tap
teaching artist here at the
studio dansu and i'm here today to
introduce
the tap 101 series today and
this episode we're going to be talking
about the anatomy of a tap shoe
first i have the patent leather mary
jane shoe and this is the beginner shoe
that you're going to start in
the next shoe i have is the next level
or the upper level
and this is the oxford style shoe so
it's a lace front
so it keeps your foot really snug and
tight in the shoe while you're tapping
at the top we have the toe plate or you
can call it the metal toe plate
the bottom we have the heel plate or
metal heel plate
and then we have the middle of the shoe
is the sole of the shoe and then if i
flip the shoe over
if i show you from the front you kind of
see this metal lip
on the toe plate is called the toe tip
so you can be using toe plate toe tip
heel plate and they all create different
sounds
those are two types of shoes i showed
you today and that is the anatomy of a
tap shoe
