My city is getting these but they are not fully done yet

I hate this, tap on and tap off, your price will be capped at fault price. I stayed within the cheapest zone and did as told but for charged for 4 singles at £10 instead of the unadvertised day ticket I used to buy at 3.60, even if they withdrew it the price is advertised as from 5.50. Just make buses free. Ask these card readers just increase dwell times, even when people know how to use them, if they don't it is a nightmare! Transport is an important public service- like healthcare, police, fire, water, energy, communication and education. These things should not be about profiteering! If I have to pay for transport and it costs more than a meal and I struggle already, my mobility and thus ability to engage with services that might improve my life is hampered severely, especially since our infrastructure is crap for cycling in the UK and walking forces you to deal with noisy busy roads and beg buttons that prioritize cars, besides the buses get stuck in traffic anyways, then you need to wait at every stop for everyone to tap on and off, at least day tickets only take a moment to scan on and require no action when alighting.

well said. you shouldnt be incentivised not to do important things by saving money on things that should be free anyway. i remember i used to just skip some workshops at uni because i would be paying £5 to get the train in and i already was feeling tired or worn out or just couldnt be bothered. the tuition was paid for by the state but the train wasnt necessarily. just a waste.

would the system know if the person is under 18 or have a concessionary pass?
