Being a dance teacher at the age of 35, struggling to perform even for a 4 minute song. Couldn't perform with perfection rather tend to give rest to my legs.. teaching and dancing are extremely different. Last ween i wanted to prove myself, and i tried to dance with my senior students which was a really tough task.. i determined and able to perform.. still i have a feel that i could have done well if i used to practice the basics regularly. My sincere thanks to all the Gurus presented this conversation which was an eye opener for me. I have just stepped into my teaching career and yet lot more to see... The understanding of body and practicing basics with heart and soul will bring back the style and confidence. Thank you Sheela mam for this great conversation video🙏🙏🙏🙏

I did my Arangetram in my 40s... Thanks to my wonderful Guru and my family for supporting me in this journey. When you get a second chance in life you want to make the best use of it. Wow, so good to know your journey. I am doing exactly the same. I have restarted my Bharatanatyam journey last month as I couldn't complete it during my schooling years. I always had this nudge to pursue it again. I am in my 30s now and I also have been calling it my second chance at pursuing my passion. ❤️ Good wishes to you and your journey. 🙂

How wonderful to have your Guru and her Guru to guide all of you in Dance. Not only learning your art of Dance from both excellent Gurus but life lessons as well. You have a wonderful gift being placed before all of you. Guru Kishore & Dr. Sheela are teaching & molding you how to become a wise & loving Guru. One day six students will look to you. So take it all in and always let them know in word and deed how much they mean to you. Good health to all. Bob Jackson

Even though I'm not a dancer, I truly appreciate the way art forms are taught in India. The attention to the learning experience in an intimate and more direct way. When he talked about with age comes maturity it was a very wise advice. Because the body changes, but the soul can express things that are off limits when we are younger.

Unquestionably (IMO) the BEST episode so far. Fantastic lessons from the two experienced teachers in the presence of young teachers / dancers. The lessons from this episode do require some maturity on the part of the dancers to understand & follow (or practice -- oh, that word practice!) . Life lessons too beyond the Art form itself. 🙏🙏🙏💖💖💖 to Sri. Mosalikanti , Smt. Sheela, Smt. Shoba and the kool kidz. Missing Rajadarshini in this episode - looks like she and Mridula take turns 😄😄

Dear Sri.Sheelaa Unni Krishnan, you and Sri Jaikishore Mosalikanti, show very clearly, the TRUE GURUKULAM TRADITION OF OUR COUNTRY. Mental Communication sparkles at its best and the Psychological Connection is so evident from the exchange of thoughts between you both! Being brought up under the great care and love of our Peraasaan, I know what is the perfect Mental Connection between the "Guru and Sishyan" right in my very young age. Just like you, He wrings me relentlessly in session after session of rigorous physical and psychological exercises. As years go by, I felt the inner Core Stamina building up to such levels that I did any work without refreshments or rest or full meals. While every body else were taking rest after a session, I eagerly launched on to the next session. It went on so far like that, that almost nobody dared to work along with me Under Any circumstance!! "He works like a "Devil", won't let us take a nap! Count me out of all sessions with him!" was always the comment! THIS IS WHY I PRAISED YOUR "THAPASYAA" RIGHT FROM THE MOMENT I FIRST SAW THE BEGINNING. Believe me that this type of instilling Core Stamina Boosting Exercises, before the actual "Saadhagam" will lift the dancer above normal physical boundaries and make them immune to fatigue, stress, tension, muscular tiredness and other body related discomforts! The way your "Nardhana Natchaththirangall" perform with so much abundant energy; You can be immensely proud for this; shows the result of such "Thapasyaa". Great, very Great! Hearty Congratulations for doing continuously compiling the "Thapasyaa" Episodes. Please note: In this era of instant "Arangetram" your's is a true "Gugu Kula Naattiyak Kalaa Saalai" Thanks for inspiring so many Young Dancers. Your dancing itself shows the presence and stock of that Core Stamina even after so many years. "Bharadham" stops ageing process and "Bharadham with Foundation Fitness" reverses the sane ageing process of our body. I did not enter "Bharadham" as per His guidance; but did the same "Thapasyaa" of fitness practice hour after hour IRRESPECTIVE OF SET TIME TABLE. Past mid age, I am still with the same Stamina.

Sri Guru Kishore Mosalikanti is truly a mastermind in his work. He said something that resonated with me very much. There are no Bharatanatyam teachers where I am from in South Africa, but I had started learning for myself at the beginning of last year. I used to, and still do, look up Bharatanatyam dance videos, especially ones from Sridevi Nrithyalaya, and would learn through observation and execution. This has been so tough to do without a teacher! I've come a long way with learning this way. I try my very best to imitate the beautiful dancers, and learn a lot from the uppermost student to the youngest. In this process, I've learned that with the addition to learning as much as I can from the videos, I have become my own teacher, as Mr. Mosalikanti said. But when I look at the guru-shisha relationship that transformed an incredible guru, (Dr. Sheela) to become a student again, learning under her teacher's wise tutelage, it made me realize what I am missing. I wish to come to Chennai to learn under you, Dr. Sheela, one day.

We sincerely thank you all for putting these very valuable rather invaluable information in public rather than just hold this knowledge to only yourself to be distributed only among those who choose to join your class. That exhibits your dedication towards the art. Of course, as wise ones always say knowledge increases when you disperse it more. But in this commerical world you find the most sincere artists cower down to materialistic tactics to achieve their goals. In between of this haze SDN emerges as frontliner for performing arts with it's selfless attitude and dedication.

@ Smt. Visalakshi K. Raman: I saw your beautiful original comment just a few seconds ago. Tried to reply to it and KZbin had some problem and then your comment disappeared. You had mentioned how your near and dear ones encouraged you to dance, seeing only Rama/Krishna/Vishnu on stage and not you (or your physical appearance) and how Sri. Mosalikanti's remarks about becoming one with the dance resonated with you. Also you had lovingly cautioned Guru Smt. Sheela that she is too precious to expose herself to the danger of riding a bicycle in Chennai traffic. This is all I could remember. I am paraphrasing but now you know your original comments had a brief existence in cyberspace. 🙏🙏🙏 My attempted reply to your comment was "Agree with you 100%"

@@rsr7241 This is my second comment. The first one was written as soon as I saw the Tapasya episode. But I don't know what happened to it! Got lost in transit perhaps??? In dream we become like a God. We can command anything and everything to happen. Dream liberates us from our mental limitations. In dance we can become anyone we want to become. Dance liberates us from the physical limitations. Liberation of any type is welcomed since it is always good for us.
