FAMU sounded like "THe Best Stereo System that I Ever Heard". I was in the Sonic Boom listening on the field as a freshman. I LOVE IT!
@JaxQue033 жыл бұрын
We appreciate your sentiment. We had another show prepared to go, but it wasn't sharp, so Doc decided to repeat the halftime show to the opposite side of the stadium for our second performance, when JSU had a completely new show prepared, some of us were a little dejected. We pride ourselves on being prepared and ready. We thought we gave that second performance away with doing the same show. It was my FIRST plane ride and first encounter with JSU. I'll never forget it. MUCH love and respect for the Sonic BOOM of the South.

I'd love for the modern day 100 to tap into it's roots, it's history... The drive, the determination is there for the taking. Watching this video u can see them sweating & catching their breath while maintaining a high quality performance... FAMU is one of the best programs to date but they will once again become the best if they incorporate a lot of the discipline and techniques of the past to mold them for the future. Can't wait to see the 2017-2018 edition of Fantastic M100

I think that lasted from the 80s maybe until 2008. Went a bit downhill after. Honestly, the new 100 is amazing for what they went through. But, the Drum Majors definitely need one of the head DMs from 01 to 07 to discipline them because man, lmfaooo. Also hate how their dance routines are mainly trending tiktok dances versus when the 100 would tear up a mf field then play something like America the beautiful or purple carnival as if they weren't just stickin and rollin it, lmfaoo. Still the BEST BAND, though.

1 of the main reasons why the FAMU Marching 100 has such a reputation is because they use a symphonic influence for their band.

To The Marching "100" And Dr. William P. Foster ----R.I.P. What A Great Performance !
@docwoc79035 жыл бұрын
They were soooo good. I miss these days. My prayer is that they will get back to this level. I must say that the present hundred has too many "out of shape" young people who are just unable to deliver on this kind of show with such energy and precision that the hundred is known for. In all fairness, I think it is the diets of young people in America where fast food and the food we consume today is not what it used to be. This has created a public health crisis, and an obese generation of young people and young adults. That, coupled with lack of discipline and attention that social media undermines makes for a less teachable and disciplined college band member. The level of discipline and commitment shown in this video will be hard to to regain for the FAMU band! this makes me sad for such a great legacy!

In your opinion What is the difference between the food now and back than?
@docwoc79035 жыл бұрын
@@snoody032003As a public health expert, the American diet has become toxic. Fast food, and even our produce has so many preservatives, and the fast food that we ate in the 70s and 80s as college students was real food, but now the hormones and preservatives have made that food slightly short of poison. These young people are out of shape (look at FAMU's flag corps; utter embarrassment). Personally, I would like to see the get a dance team (FL has the prettiest, well trained dancers). Unfortunately, today's college kids' minds are bombarded with "social media reality" that makes for a less disciplined college kid and band member. What FAMU was built on will NEVER return as a solid foundation of the greatest marching band tradition/legacy. They will have to change their tradition (never will happen because of the god-like respect for the GREAT Dr. William P. Foster). They are slowly moving into obscurity with the changing times. The SWAC bands are feasting on FAMU's lack of adaptability and focus on their tradition. I love FAMU and the band (my favorite), but their mass appeal and reverence as the BEST are only memories now!

I AM A MEMBER OF THE "MARCHING 100". CLASS OF 1990. WE BEGAN LOSING THAT TRIBAL SPIRIT, AND WARRIOR EXCELLENCE OF OUR ANCESTORS IN 1989 AND 1990 ON. WE WERE STRONG IN THE EARLY 1990'S. RESPECT FOR UPPER CLASSMEN WAS PARAMOUNT! UNFORTUNATELY, THE BAND WAS TOO EXCEPTIONALLY EXCELLENT FOR AN ALL BLACK INSTITUTION LIKE THE MARCHING 100 TO ENTER INTO A NEW DECADE AND A NEW TIME, WHICH WERE THE 1990'S. WE WERE BEING FAUGHT AGAINST BY OUTSIDE FORCES IN HIGH PLACES. WE MUST UNDERSTAND THAT MEMBERS OF THE "HUNDRED" WERE THE BRIGHTEST YOUNG BLACK MEN AND WOMEN IN THE WORLD! WE WENT ON TO BECOME FEARLESS LEADERS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD! IN OTHER WORDS, "FAMU'S MARCHING 100 BAND" WAS A BREEDING GROUND FOR BLACK PROFESSIONALS THAT KNEW HOW TO CREATE, CONQUER, AND CONTROL THEIR LIVES, ENVIRONMENT, AND DESTINY. IT WAS REALLY OVER WHEN THE DRUM MAJOR DIED FROM TRYING TO "GO OVER" ON "BUS C". MANY OF US FAMUANS, EVEN NON- BAND MEMBERS, KNEW IT WAS OVER AFTER THE TERRIBLE DEATH OF ONE OF OUR OWN! LASTLY, TOO MANY OUTSIDERS WERE TRYING TO DIRECT THE PATHWAY OF THE "HUNDRED", THEREBY DIVIDING OUR MEMBERS AND RANKS! ONE MORE THING, I AM SO PROUD OF HOW THE PROFESSORS OF THE "MARCHING 100" PERSEVERED AND BROUGHT THE "MARCHING 100" BACK AFTER THE SCANDAL OF OUR DRUM MAJORS DEATH ROCKED THE WORLD! REMEMBER, WE FAMUANS ARE LEADERS ALL OVER THE WORLD (I SAY THAT HUMBLY). HOPEFULLY THIS SHEDS SOME LIGHT! SO, IN MY OPINION, THE BAND OF 1988 WAS THE LAST UNIFIED TRIBE OF THE "WORLD'S RENOWNED, FLORIDA A & M UNIVERSITY'S MARCHING 100 BAND". EXCELLENT AND TOO
