Punjabi writer of yesteryears Dhani Ram Chatrik says, about Punjab and Punjabi: ਤੇਰੀ ਮਾਖਿਉਂ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਬੋਲੀ ਦੀ, ਜੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਸਿਫਤ ਨਾ ਰੱਜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਹਿੰਦੀ ਉਰਦੂ ਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ, ਸੁਰਤਾਲ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਵੱਜਦਾ ਹੈ। Punjabi zindabad!! If your mother-tongue is some other language, respect and love that language... But don't pretend that despite being a Punjabi, your mother-tongue is some other language....

Full of melody and beauty. Everything is beautiful in this rendition except the pronunciation of 'Mahiya'. Am not a Punjabi but it's my observation that when you pronounce mahiya focusing on h(ح) it looses its beauty. In Urdu it's okay to focuse on h(ح). Love 💕
