In this video I look at a derivative of the basic 3 non-isolated topologies where the designs are expanded upon by changing the inductor. By using a tapped-inductor rather than the regular implementation, a new set of power stages can be created with various benefits and behaviors.

I didn't realize exactly what these were until you dove in this morning! I've been working with these for years repairing them and redesigning them without really understanding that they were a separate topology unto themselves... LOL Thanks for the good content!

For EMI reasons, having RC snubbers even for regular converters is almost a must.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on push-pull converters... And I'm currently toying with the idea of one with two separate inputs (with synchronised switching but different duty cycles) so I can be drawing maximum power (MPPT) from a solar panel but still maintaining the desired output voltage, regardless of the load current varying, by drawing whatever current is needed from a mains power supply input!

I will try to cover more topologies in the future, however I am not sure I will be delving too deep into very specific use cases... anyway, if you can make a simplified version of the control circuit, you should be able to simulate the variation in the 2 supply sources and see how the whole system would work

What does push-pull have to do with MPPT? It all depends on the control strategy, not on the converter topology.

@@VEC7ORlt it's a converter topology that uses low side switching , so you only need NMOS FETs, offers full isolation (and by not having 1:1 turns ratios you can build in an inherent step up/down to keep the PWM duty cycle in an efficient range) and you can have multiple sets of primary windings to feed power from multiple sources at once - but you need to carefully synchronise the switching waveforms between them.

Imagine that used in a sound wave in a atomic particle structure arrangement in the vacuum off space as a plasmatic gas so i can work out to equal a light year in 31 hour's if you can get it to work. Or how to a diode i can save around twenty bucks for the 15v to 12v and that split 9v to 5v regulation in a pc tower power pack from one transformer MIT as your 5 v won't light up?? Anyway on a prototype for a push bike dynamo kit no high two amp current but 32v one amp perfectly to waves my first at 250ma would have blown 😁if i can get it built or Tesla to a charger with computer control current regulations and a high current alternator.
