A maple tapping 2022 update. Also a little advise on tapping and my professional setup how I do it!

Well presented Chad. I like your attention to the repetitive system. I too think its important to do it the same way every time. Do you ever tap below the lateral? Does the 6 amp hour battery last all day and are those Uddertech pouches?

Thanks man. Yes I do what’s called a upper case j or lower case j. Upper case is when spout is above the lateral but the drop goes below. And a lower case is when the spout is below the lateral. But I always make it a j so sap can drop away from the spout. The bags are something I have custom made. We sell for $25

6 amp batteries last 4-500 spouts. Then I change due to slow speed.

@@chadsharrow9269 surprised you only get 4-5 hundred. I run the 5 amp hour and a subcompact drill and get the same. You would prob like the sub compact. Nice bags.

@@sublimewoodturner well I could get more but I like to have full power to be able to single plunge. Isn’t the sub compact less rpm? I also remove all the heavy internal parts from the drill. And some days 4-500 is a whole day 😂

What brand tool do you use to put on spouts? Looks like it doesn’t have the locking vice grip style. It looks more efficient than what I use.

It does have a locker vise grip yes. I keep it tight so it doesn’t lock. I just hold the pressure on with my left hand and squeeze with my right I found this saved seconds on every spout. Which of course adds up all day.

I’m in Ohio and just tapped a few days ago I only have 10 trees tho could I’ve a tapped 3 weeks ago

I have no idea what your weather patters are. But if you are just on gravity or buckets. The hole will basically stop production in 4-6 weeks.
