Rewatching this fight after seeing it live on TV a few years back, I reach the same conclusion: Stiverne won because of his superior hand speed. You can train speed to some extent - but Stiverne is clearly gifted with it.

gotta give chris credit for getting up from that shot in the 3rd. apparently that punch also broke his nose. he finished the fight a bloody mess. but the damage was done. supposedly Arreola has gotten in better shape since this fight so the rematch this weekend should be a great. winner of the rematch fights Wilder. winner of that fight gets Wlad.

Stiverne looked really good in this fight, going back and coming forward. Nice tight D and solid countering. Chris was done for as soon as his nose got shattered. He showed hella heart to keep going even though he had to be in all kinds of pain. Every shot taken to the head with a nose that jacked up is intensified immensely. As for Mitchell vs Arreola I'd bet on Chris. Seth can't take a punch for shit and isn't all that good defensively.

I believe Chris will win the rematch he was winning this one until he decided to stop forcing the action behind his jabs after the knock down. He said after the 3rd his nose was broke so it was hard to breath I believe him. He still should have shown to be lightspeed ahead of a Heavyweight who just got logged into Professional Heavyweight fighting just five years ago and Chris has been fighting since he was a young kid. He is still considered the favorite in the next fight for this reason in my opinion. I believe the knock down to be a human reaction to the bell about to be there a moment of mental conditioning back firing on us was shown there.

We didn't realize it back then in the '70s, but we were very fortunate to have had so many dedicated & committed heavyweights fighting in the same era. The '80s had Tyson, Spinks & Holmes. The '90s had Lewis, Holyfield & Bowe. And 2014 has the Klitschkos, who cant fight each other because they're brothers. Maybe Stiverne will create a spark.

Not to take anything away from Stiverne (he did all the right things after the broken nose), but I don't think he would have won more than three, maybe four rounds if he hadn't broke Arreola's nose. Stiverne will be taking a BIG step up if he ever faces Vitali Klitschko. He can't afford to put on extra weight.

I don't know what Andre Ward is talking about, but from the 7th round on to the 11 round Stiverne looked tired and winded, but he was smart enough to keep hitting Arreola in the body and then slip Arreola's punches and also landing the nice rights hands. But in the 11 round Andre Ward said Arreola needs to step on the gas but Stiverne looks a little bit tired because he has his mouth open, but Stiverne had his mouth opened since round 7 lol !!!
