How do these artists survive if they spend days /weeks/months/yesrs just experimenting with styrofoam cups? They must be born into the top.1%. They must be able to escape the practicality of everyday life.

I can’t speak specifically to Tara Donovan’s upbringing - but the term ‘starving artist’ definitely applies to many in the creative class.
