I have often visited the mine and was there working on the ground at Nevinstown (across the river) before it was opened, but I never saw the railhead and this view of it - thanks!

At 30 seconds into the video the drone crosses the site of Navan junction railway station which once boasted 4 platforms, two on the still existing Drogheda line, and two to the left towards Dublin, where the cash and carry store is now. You can still pick out the remains of a platform on the right hand side of the still existing track. Rather disappointingly there doesn’t appear to be any old photographs or films of this once important railway station.

There's no news that I've heard. Boliden have said the mine is due to reopen apparently in June , 4 months ago, with staff going back throughout the following quarter. I can find no proof that it actually has happened. The trains still aren't running. No news I've heard about them restarting.

Tara mines is Europes largest Zinc mine and is one the largest in a Global comparision

Tara Mines sits slap-bang in the middle of the old Dublin-Kells line which makes reopening the route for passenger services next to impossible. Pity.
