This Album -Phir, Mere Khayaal Se, is my expression of love. The years of learning, practice and exploration lead to pathways untraveled and while I had the chance to tread those, I have collected some hues and fragrances that I wanted to share. The Album consists of Bageshri (Vilambit and Drut Khayaal) and A Tarana in Yaman.
For common understanding, Tarana is a type of composition in Hindustani classical vocal music in which certain words based on Persian and Arabic phonemes are rendered at a medium or fast rate. It was invented by Amir Khusro.
This particular "Tarana" by "Bahadur Khan Sahab" has intrigued me forever, for it's "Uthaan" or start point which is the 11th matra of the 12 beat drut ektaal cycle and the grooviness that sets in because of the "Sam" arriving in the middle of the word "Taanom".
He has a quintessential style of playing around with "on" and "off" beat in his compositions which makes room for some interesting Laykaari.

Wah wah wah, such a very good clearity in taan n sargam. This tarana was sung by u. Radhid khanji , n vidushi Ashvini bhideji too.. Rashidji starts with Sum... N ashviniji, just like yr from 11 th matra.... .. Aapne bahot khub nyay diya is tarane ko... Dhanyavaad...
