I also grew up with this song and the iconic Sandy Patti. I sang this as a solo in church when I was 17 years old. Did not speak Spanish, but I had a classmate who helped me with pronunciation. That Sunday, we had visitors from Puerto Rico, who felt welcomed by me singing their language (totally a God thing!). I've sung it many times since, and it is my favorite Sandi Patti song.
