38:13 Girl, Faouzia absolutely can. I noticed when she dances she is RIGHT on beat and it's clean too! Beginner dancers don't have that cleanness when it comes to dancing/hitting beats usually. I think Faou has the talent for dancing.

I was at her DC concert where she had lost her voice and had to cancel last minute. You could tell she was so disappointed that she couldn't perform. Went back when it was rescheduled, and you could tell Faouzia still wasn't herself. Hope to see her again one day when she is 100%. Got to meet her, she is a wonderful person.

Let me just say that I have been avidly listening to music since I was a child, I am also a singer, which is something that feels a bit weird to state when I consider the talent and ability of an artist like Faouzia, but I reference this to say that I am very versed in a huge variety of musical styles and genres, and when I heard her sing Desert Rose I had shivers everywhere and tears down my face. It was one of, if not the most, beautiful thing I had ever heard! It might have something to do with me having the same thing for sad ballads. Thank you for sharing your voice and soul with us, you are not just amazing as an artist, but an immense inspiration to other artists to be better and raise the bar of what they do! And thank you Tara for saving space for genuine art and talent in a world sold to mediocrity, you are also a gift to us singers and performers, a big hug to you!

Really interesting discussion! Especially enjoyed the reflections on the pros and cons of being strongly wired to play by ear. It is a theme that comes up for so many interesting artists/composers... e.g. Tori Amos - playing by ear from age 2/3, accepted to the Peabody Institute's music programmes at 5... enormously talented pianist, but by her own admission has always struggled to sight read because that's not how she experiences music and it frustrates her to work that way versus what innately makes sense. And so right about questioning the rigid desire to force those people to conform - Tori was kicked out at 13 for 'musical insubordination' 😂 Wishing Faouzia all the inspiration and success as she heads out into music world!
